In short: Why did it cost £3 to park?? An hour to get off the common!!
In full: Fantastic race! shame about the travel experience, Early into the Car Park, but a n hour to get out? I thought we were paying for extra marshalling, where were they, then??

As I say fantastic race, excellent support.

In short: Fantastic views in a great part of the country
In full: Excellent camaraderie amongst the runners, fantastic views along the Loch. That Hill went on forever at 17-19 miles.

Negative: The start was too rushed due to not enough toilet facilities! Get in a Trough or two as urinals for the blokes and get those queues down! We were being rushed all the time we were at the start, and didn't have time for the pre-race rituls, didn't even see the warm up!

Not a big negative but definitely room for improvement for next year.

Apart from that a Great day, and a great break in the Highlands!

In short: Great Fun going down the Hills!
In full: steady climb to the top, Super fast descent for 2k, followed by 1k of climb, then downhill again through the Castle, and a short sharp climb to the finish line.

£7 entry, and a great memento!! Bargain!

In short: Great Fun, enjoyed the race.Could be even better with a few tweaks
In full: The marshalls were the best ever, all of them had a list of runners, and used it to cheer on all the participants by name. The guys at the water atation half way riound were excellent as well, and it was nice to see some pretty faces at the other water stop (calm down Bob!). The organisers were really friendly as well chatting with us all before & after the race,

Room for improvement
1 Accurate measuring would be good so that we know that it is a half marathon
2 Send out the numbers beforehand so that we don't have to queue to register on the day.
3 More people on the certificates at the end to cut that queue as well.

In short: fairly hilly two lap 10k
In full: I thought it was a fund raiser. They were giving away hot dogs @ 30p a time (and there were 2 sausages in the roll, and the Tea & Coffee were free!

In short: FAO Marsh Rat. The fact that there was a medical emergency does not excuse the lack of a marked finish line!!!!
In full: I had no problems at the start, but then I'd just walked out of the park and turned right.

There was a start line - I started my watch when I crossed over it.

Good flat course made for great PB potential. I noted that my watch was 17 seconds out from the lead car as they went by on their return.

No problems at the water stop, walked through it as I needed the drink.

Got to the finish and turned right (I had expected the finish to be on the track like last year) I stopped my watch on 49.41 when I hit the back of the queue for the funnels. I had passed a couple of Marshalls taking numbers and was level with the clock. Didn't see a finish line or banner though!!!

So my time of 49.41 plus 17 seconds = 49.58 !!!

A sub-50, my previous PB was 51.34.

Official Time is 50.08???? How?????

WHERE WAS THE FINISH LINE????

In short: I only ran it because Brighton were playing at Carlisle on the Saturday!
In full: My schedule for Dublin said 'half marathon' for this weekend, As I was going up to Carlisle to watch the Mighty(ahem!) Stripes, I thought I'd do a search for a local half.

Came up with this one, did a bit of research on here and still entered!

Great Race, first 3 miles flat(ish), and then we went up the side of a mountain!!!!

Well, it was all up & down from then!!!

Enjoyed having a good run for the last mile, but enjoyed the previous 12 even more.

In short: Hard Hilly Race - 421 ft climb, only 342 ft back down!
In full: Hard 5.5k up, but well worth it for the views ( not that there was time to stop & look!). That hill at 7.5 to 8k was the worse, I nearly walked, many did! Great momento, makes a change from a medal. The festival in the Town meant that we stayed around a bit afterwards. Bought some lovely bread & Onion Marmalade & sat in Swanbourne lake for a picnic afterwards.
Only one minor gripe. Why did all the water stations seem to be just as a downhill section started! Have them on the uphill I prefer to run downhill!
