In short: Temporal Vortex In full: on the whole a good race but I always lose so much time over mile 4-5 that I can only assume there is some kind of anomalous rift in the spacetime continuum, because although it is uphill you don't feel like your running any slower. Got a pb so can't really complain. Well done Wrexham AAC Date of review: December 7, 2008
In short: hilly but fun. In full: I ran this in '06 and thought it was tough, but enjoyed it, this year it was still tough but I was nearly 3 minutes faster. Two climbs on each lap but the first one is by far the hardest, the hill at the end of each lap is fast and I'm glad you run the course anti-clockwise. I'm sure I was 2nd V40 but they gave the prize to a V55?, oh well, still a good day out. Date of review: November 29, 2008
In short: cracking race! In full: this was my big shot at going sub 60 and the course was meant to be flat and fast and it is fast but not entirely flat, there are two very slight climbs (both run twice as its a two lapper). Organization was smooth, atmosphere was good, support and marshaling were good. Nice mug and a gel at the end. I ran 58:59 job done!!! ;) Date of review: November 16, 2008
In short: "Nov 2 '08" cracking little race! In full: A well organized race on a fast 3 lap course, The tight corner is probably worth a second or two but not as bad as I remember it from when I ran it a few years ago. Ran a pb :) Great run/ first race for beginners. Date of review: November 2, 2008
In short: Leicester Half Marathon 2008 - Great Race!!!!!!!! In full: Superb race, can't really fault it. Course was good (apart from one subway, I don't like subways) a good mix of areas, road closures were excellent and well marshaled by supportive marshals, good support around the course as well. Free hot pork sandwich at the end, Nice! Date of review: October 19, 2008
In short: Well organised race, In full: A well organised event, the course is a little testing, undulating with plenty of steady climbs, nothing too tough tho. The only real negative point is the underpass/subway it does kill your pace a bit but there's nothing you can really do about that and it wouldn't stop me doing the race again. Plenty of supportive marshalls, and a excellent glass trophy/momento at the end. Early start gave nice cool almost perfect running condition. A good race. Date of review: September 28, 2008
In short: cracking race, but oh mile 9 to 10 In full: A nice course and up until mile 9 I thought it was quite good although definitely undulating. But that hill was brutal and definitley did for my target time. It's not a pb course even though I did run one! Organisation was spot on, the course was well marshalled and they were all very supportive. Nice hat as a momento and a free post race massage from the girls from Craven College, Skipton. Well done Garstang Running Club! Date of review: September 21, 2008
In short: brilliant race, brilliant organisation, brilliant!! In full: Although the course is testing it is a great event and I can't thank the organisers enough for providing such a excellent race. Date of review: August 23, 2008
In short: smashing day out in the country In full: Nice course, good mix of fields, tracks and a bit of road, no extreme ups or downs, all very runnable, I reckon it's a bit short of 4 miles stated. Great atmosphere, really enjoyed it.
Well done all involved.
Can't vouch for the quality of the bottle of beer I got in the good goody bag or the bottle of wine I won for first V40 because I dropped them when I got home, D'Oh! Date of review: May 26, 2008
