In short: Greeeeeaaaaatttttt North Run! In full: I really enjoyed the atmosphere, a very different race experience. Spent 10 miles waiting for the runners to thin out before realising this wasn't going to happen. Just accept it's not going to be a pb race and enjoy running as a group. Listen to the footfalls of the runners around and relax into it. Glad I did it, I won't be back but only due to distance from home and the size of the field. Wonderful support from the locals and the aaah moment cresting the hill just before mile 12. Lovely day out! Date of review: September 19, 2010

In short: Great training run for an Autumn marathon, hill work never felt so satisfying. In full: Great, demanding run across the Downs. The rule is always keep the runner in front in sight or be able to read and run well. Thankfully another dry year. Worth the entry fee to get a supported long run. Thanks to all the volunteers, well organised and good food at the finish. Date of review: September 12, 2010

In short: Good, flat course. In full: A good run. As a resident of MK I was refreshingly surprised by how scenic it was. Good organisation and plenty of drinks. Thank you marshalls. Pity about the lack of goody bag at the end, could have done with being handed a snack. Something to sort out for next year? Date of review: March 4, 2008

In short: Great day out on the Downs. In full: I've never run off-road before. 20 miles with a map and hopefully someone in front to follow makes for a really interesting day out. Thanks to everyone who I followed or who shouted at me when I went wrong. I found it really difficult to understand the directions - all my energy being directed to my legs and not my brain! I think I would have been in dire straits if I'd been on my own. I kept missing even the more obvious route indicators. (D'oh).
The track with the flint stones was treacherous and I'll have to get better off-road shoes for next year, but apart from that, a really good training run for an autumn marathon. Excellent opportunity to get some hill-work in.
The water stations were well stocked (yum) and the marshalls were really encouraging and enthusiastic.
Beautiful scenery when I remembered to look up and fab weather today too. I can imagine it's a much tougher prospect if the weather is poor!
I'd definitely give it another go, but may opt for the 10 miler if I'm not building up to a marathon. It's hard to voluntarily put your body through that, although I feel great now - 7 hours later. Much better run than those boring road races with all their mile markers and arrows, no sense of adventure at those events! Date of review: September 16, 2007
