In short: Very well organised & marshalled, some long slopes & very hot!
In full: Once of the best organised runs in Essex, well marshalled and good crowds. Some long climbs and declines, but once you get away from the main roads its a nice run. Obviously very hot this year (though I've sat in a car staring at cold rain in previous years), but 11am seems a late start, and a hostage for a day like today. I realise there are disbenefits, but an earlier start could also reduce the traffic which is qute heavy on some of the main roads.

In short: fast course, scenic but organisation bit lacking
In full: Course is flat and fast, though the breeze made it hard work. Overall a good race across the marshes, but I'd agree with most of the comments on the organisation. Toilets were overworked (but guess the gents experienced what the ladies seem to face most races), lack of signs when arriving in the village (but the big green in a small place means you get there eventually) and lack of marshalls at the water stations. But I enjoyed, and the only reason I'd hesitate to return is that the long drive from Essex meant an early Sunday start.

In short: a fairly tough run - but enjoyable
In full: Third attempt at this race and still enjoy it. While the scenery and traffic aren't great, there's really not much the organiser's can do about this. Its well marshalled, and has an early start to avoid the worst of the traffic. The long hills present a reasonable challenge, but I'll still be back next year!

In short: a enjoyable race, well organised and good course
In full: Its well organised and marshalled, while the course is challenging without being too tough. And they even sent out my T-shirt in the post as they did not have enough for the late entries.

In short: a real x-country challenge
In full: A different race, and a challenge along beaches and paths with a few stiles and gates thrown in. Last year we had rain and mud, this year it was sun and wind. But I think the last few miles on the beach into the head wind was the toughest part yet. Its certainly a change from the standard road race, but great fun for it.

In short: Good new course - fast & flat
In full: Good points = course is flat and faster than the old one. Its also along the seafront, which seemed to provide better support and atmosphere, and it always seemed odd not to run the front when visiting Southend and I did not miss the return across the Wakering fields on the final hill! Overall, the new location seemed more organised and easier for cars to get in out, but I arrived early and got away quickly.

Bad points = less facilities at the new start ie I missed the nice sports hall and especially the showers and toilets. As for 'crossover' for runners, having been strongly told to keep to the right at the start I was surprised when the lead car and front runners returned on the first lap on the left and against the main field. Think this was a mistake, as the course naturally favoured staying on the right the whole way round, and it was a fairly basic error.

But overall, I think the race has benefitted from the move and has more potential to develop.
