In short: I loved this! In full: Fastastic scenery, well organised, children's races and glorious weather. Now if you can just start doing races like this in other parts of the country... Date of review: October 13, 2007
In short: Few minor niggles in an otherwise great race In full: This is for the half-marathon.
Great carparking, and standard of goodie bag (medal, tshirt and paperweight thing) high, but a few minor niggles, that could do with tweaking.
1 - start times not on offical website, nor in race pack, the only place we could find them was on RW 2 - loos - massive queues for loos meant we missed the offical start to our race, and we weren't the only ones. Please can we have more next year 3 - marshalling, on the whole it was excellent, but not very clear as you came off the promenade - more people (or better positioning of them) next year please 4 - lack of signage to warn car drivers - some of the car drivers seemed to not be aware a race was going on.
I'd do this race again, and its definitely a PB course, but just needs a few tweaks. Date of review: September 16, 2007
In short: Hot, hilly and fun In full: I've done the Cancer Research 10ks at Grimsthorpe before, but never this one. I need to practice my hills, but apart from that, a good run. Will be back. Date of review: August 27, 2007
In short: fantastic race In full: This was going to be the highlight of my spring, and then events overtook us. With very little training I didn't know if I should even attempt it, but I'm so pleased I did. It took 2 days before I could walk afterwards though. Date of review: May 4, 2007
In short: Flat run with a few obstacles In full: First time I'd done this race, despite the fact I live less than 2 miles from the start. Lovely run along the river banks, but be warned there are three stiles to negotiate and two gates to climb over. This did mean a bit of a bottleneck for slower runners. Great fun though. In short: Lovely route - but way longer than 10k - practically 11k In full: This is the second time I've done this one - I did it last year as well. The course was pretty much the same, but had an extra bit between the 5 and 6km markers. When measured I found it to be nearly 11k, so it was unsuprising I didn't beat my PB. I'm also not convinced any of the km markers were in the right place. As a "fun" run it was great, but not one if you are looking for a PB. Date of review: September 27, 2006
