In short: An excellent must do again race!! In full: This was my first year at Chippenham after years of the Bristol Half my local race, but after today and only 16 miles from house to start line I can't wait for next year. Great scenery, a relatively flat course with a finish that is made for speed. Marshalls and spectators were fabs especially the lady who was handing out jelly babies..Excellent all round :-) Date of review: September 13, 2010
In short: Hot hot hot In full: Now ran this for the last 4 years in a row though I did dib out in 2008 and finished the half however if you don't make into the VLM this is well worth running............... hell its well worth running whatever. A good course in fabs surrounding but have to say that last 6 miles is hell (pouting in my finests Dr Evil pose) hahahahahaha All the same a very good marathon and another pb by 16 mins............Overall great Date of review: April 26, 2010
In short: third year in a row .............. excellent In full: love this marathon broke my pb by 26 mins and really like the greenway ... seeing as i is from bristol makes me want to say GOODTIMES Date of review: April 26, 2009
In short: Well I loved it !!!! In full: First the negative stuff, yes the delay was not welcome the park and rides were jammed and for me marshall's should have been stationed on all the traffic islands. I saw one bloke fly through the air like a salmon, it looked very painful. On the plus side which were numerous for me the course is well laid out pretty flat, excellent pb material with the weather as well glourious. I even loved the goody bag the green tea drink was interesting yet still very welcome. As for the medal I ran with my cousin, this was his first half and he he was still wearing it down the pub on the evening so I don't think he had any moans about it and neither do I............. Overall this is a great race maybe there are too many runners but to run in that splendour was fabs, can't wait for next year............... Date of review: March 16, 2009
In short: Great organisation well done In full: The two wave start proved to be a massive boost benefitting all(well me)concerned. Wasn't to keen on the cobbles towards the end but hey ho did a PB for Bristol so now downing a well deserved cider and am looking forward to next year........Excellent Date of review: September 14, 2008
In short: What is says In full: The weather was just fantastic and the setting was text book Cotswold, got to love this race. The first hill was tough and the second one at about 6-7 miles went on for ever, but this is one for your racing calendar......bloody brilliant and the pub in Great Rissington looks one to visit ;-) Date of review: June 30, 2008
In short: Love this race In full: Well organised. The race has a good feel about it and plenty of water stations, one thing this course is generally flat but there are some inclines that do go on for a while, but hey ho still love it Date of review: April 27, 2008
In short: My first marathon and not my last !! In full: The entry fee is a little steep but considering there was water and sponges stations every 2 miles this can only be a good thing. Also the sports drink at 19 miles was very welcome, plus the money is divided up going to charity........:-)
As a race I actually enjoyed The Greenway, nice views good company, but I'm not too sure my hamstrings would agree with the mile up hill around 19-20 miles out. Thus as for a flat course I would also call it undulating at times.
Overall this is a well run race and I would do it again !!
