In short: What a great half! Well organised, good course, plenty of support
In full: I really enjoyed this half. A nice mix of 'around the town' and out in the countryside. Great support from the locals - lovely to run past 3 or 4 pubs and have them out in force, beer in hand, clapping! Of course I may be in a very happy mood, having sliced 2 mins off my PB..a great race, and I will be pencilling this in for next year for sure.

In short: Muddy, Hilly, Fantastic!
In full: This is my first attempt at the half - I ran a relay leg a couple of years ago. The rains really made it slippy, and more of a challenge. Those hills..oh wow! And yet, what a wonderful race! Thankyou to the organisers and to all of the marshalls and supporters - you made it better still. It's a really great event. Maybe the marathon next year???

In short: Challenging trail run through glorious countryside
In full: Today, the weather was a dream. A lovely, proper cross country run, some tough inclines, and a good finish. Could have done with a couple of marshalls more through 8-9km as the path was very 'rooty'. Just a really wonderful day out

In short: Beautiful countryside, well organised, just hard enough!
In full: What a lovely race! Really nice scenery, and very varied, from roads across heaths with New Forest ponies frolicking, to country paths. Loads of marshalls (thankyou!), and a nice bit of extra support from walkers and families in the forest (who look a bit surprised at 1000 runners bearing down on them!). I loved the finish line commentary guy, who kept saying 'come on, cheer them home, they've all done the same 10 miles you know! How true! Worth starting out a bit slow and keeping something for the undulations in the later miles - not hills, but they can sap your energy. Weather this year was perfect for running - not too sunny, no rain, hardly any wind - just right. This is my first time at this race and I will definitely be back.

In short: Hilly, hard, lovely atmosphere. Nice!
In full: My first time at this race. The uphills at the start are fine, just don't take them too fast - you need to hold something back for the return hill at 8km. Fast downhill from 9km to the finish, though, and the last 200m feels like a track race as it is on grass and round a corner! Great post-race food (thankyou Waitrose!), bits and pieces from Alton Sports, and lots of space to warm up.
One or two organisation things to pick up on - no baq drop (or if there was one, it was not clear where it was at 9am) so I went back to my car and came back with the essentials. On a hot day that's fine, on a cooler day that is a problem. Also, need to look at the route for ambulances. I saw the ambulance bring in a runner, having to go straight down the runner's route in the last 200 yards. I have to repeat the words of the person on the microphone who actually asked runners to 'slow down at the last corner, please'. I am assuming that they aren't a runner themselves!.
Finally a big thanks to the Marshalls, who were out in force and were cheery and encouraging.
A lovely race, and on a sunny day, something to get your teeth into.

In short: A beltingly fast flat PB 5k!
In full: Always a great test of pure speed, and general fitness. The first one of the year blows out some cobwebs for sure. You can get a bit of wind sometimes that can take the edge off your PB, otherwise its fast fast fast! And - congrats to the organisers for handling the disturbances as the Sports Centre is upgraded

In short: My local race. Lovely race, needs just a bit more attention to details!
In full: 2008 was a great year for this race. Perfect racing weather - fresh, no breeze, hint of January sun. I took 40 secs off last year so I am delighted to be sub-32mins, and it is great to run only 400 yards home afterwards!
However..
The organisers yet again ran out of medals for the back of the field - come on guys, this happened last year too! Those at the back care about them more - for some this is their first running challenge, and instead of going home holding their medal high, they have to wait a week for one to arrive in the post. Also the marshals did not hold back the traffic sufficiently well. I am very disappointed with a few Romsey drivers whose Sunday is clearly so busy and precious that they can't wait a few minutes. The masrshals and the police should take a stronger hand, especially at the Cupernham roundabout. I also think that the organisers did not do enough to alert residents beforehand - there should have been a sign on every cul-de-sac that is passed, or perhaps even a leaflet drop, so people can plan ahead. I saw only about 4 tiny signs on Friday. That's just not even trying!
If they could sort this out - and frankly there must be plenty of money in the pot to pay for this, as I can't see that they pay out on much else!- then this is a great 5 miler!

In short: A great race, thanks to all who arrange it, nice medal!!
In full: This is my first Gosport half, and I feel sure it won't be my last. So well organised, loads of parking, loads of marshalls, and plenty of space at the start/finish. I did feel a bit sorry for the Nike truck, which turned up, but you know we just weren't bothered! Thanks once again.

In short: A great, simple, fast race
In full: My second time running it, and both times it has been a really uncomplicated fast race. Well done to the organisers! Strong headwinds this year esp. between 3 and 4km took the edge off PBs. As a series to see how you are progressing - excellent! This race is just what it says on the tin.
