In short: nice run in the forest In full: enjoyed the mud at the start finish, all the gravel tracks did get a bit boring when we went under the A31 . just needs to add a mile of mud about half way round to turn it into a great 10 miler - no-one wants to run a 9 for some reason! (please don't turn it into a half-marathon) Date of review: November 11, 2012
In short: my favourite autumn race In full: the hills seem to get steeper every year! bit cold this year and a bit muddier than normal so times were slower but still enjoyed it. Who needs road races ! Date of review: November 11, 2012
In short: extreme xc ! In full: full marks to avr for deciding to let the race run in extreme conditions. had plenty of fun just getting to the race with flooded roads and a bit of snow too. change of date meant meant easy (+ now free) parking. the start of the race lulled us with a few puddles until we hit the fields - mud and deep water galore! running uphill against a river was especially invigorating and fun! In short: testing mostly off road trail race In full: ground too hard for me - needs to be run later in the year when its softer going. can we have some vege burgers too ! Date of review: September 28, 2012
In short: great 16 mile race In full: hot and dry this year - this does not suit me - only minor gripe is that the water cups were only half full leading to de-hydration! hit the wall at 14.75 miles - not fun! great cakes at the end and many thanks to the couple of runners who bought me a couple of slices of cake before I collapsed in a heap! hopefully will be cold and wet next year!! In short: this is one of the all time greats - please keep doing it and the axe valley runners! In full: Unbelievable weather for early March and a fantastic atmosphere with plenty of fellow hashers taking part. It was just as well there was less beach as the race was really tough in the warm conditions Sadly I was the author of my own poor time as hadn't done anywhere enough training and hadn't run for 4 weeks after a flu-virus plus It was too hot and I had terrible cramp (a very big thank you to the marshals for some impromptu on-course physiotherapy!) A massive thank you to the race director and the 500+ who were involved in the organisation of the this huge event. Even went in the sea after I had finished (chafed intimate areas and seawater don't mix as I found when I got out!!)
In short: sort out a proper car park !!!!! In full: arrived late - could not park anywhere - organisers there are already car parking issues in bradford on avon before any race takes place so find a car park field somewhere even if it half a mile away - had to turn round and go home again - a complete waste of time and money as spent all my time driving around wiltshire - pretty fed up !!
