In short: Have I just been conned?
In full: I have taken part in the Grim & the Beast so knew this would be pricey but come on! What did I get for £25?
Expected: Ghouls and zombies in the woods scaring the willies out of me. Got: A CD on a loop in some parts of the race.
Expected: A challenging course. Got: a nice jog.
Expected: A quality T-shirt. Got: A T-shirt which is too small and I'll never wear (we've run out of large).
Expected: A goody bag. Got: Water.

As ever, well organised and I'll accept it would have been muddier/better if the weather had not been so bad but "A Night Terror"? I think trade descriptions might want to look into this! Well done to the marshal in the clown mask - you were the only one to make an effort. COULD BE SO MUCH BETTER.

In short: 5th year, still love it
In full: The new sections this year were excellent, the old "1 mile to go" joke has gone, the goody bag is still not that great. Still one of my favourite races.

In short: Hard but (sometimes) fun.
In full: I did this race last year and hated it. I swore I would never do it again. Did it again this year and hated it a bit less! Afterwards I swore I would never do this race again but had changed my mind after my 4th pint in pub so I expect I'll see you again next year!!

In short: I'll never do it again... but that does not mean I did not enjoy myself!
In full: After running this last year I promised myself I would never do it again but like a fool I did! It's a great race, really tough, friendly runners, excellent organisation and I would not change a thing. See you next year!

In short: 3rd year of running it. Back next year!
In full: This is just such good fun. Not as hard as the Beast in the East but colder, wetter, sillier and more fun.

In short: A really enjoyable course with a few hills but nothing that should put you off.
In full: Absolutely stunning views and a really enjoyable run. I found the hills challenging but not daunting and the slope to the finish was not as bad as I had been lead to believe. The 5K runners caused a slight problem as I started my second lap but that serves me right for not being quicker over the first 5K. Most important of all though.... what a great cause. Well done Demelza

In short: FLAT, FAST RUN WITH ZERO ATMOSPHERE
In full: Flat and fast with ok scenery if you like horse race tracks. Well organised and loads of marshalls but.... small field so I ran pretty much on my own, the marshalls offered no encouragement and I EVEN HEARD ONE MARSHALL OVER THEIR WALKIE TALKIE SAY "THE PROBLEM IS MOST OF EM CAN'T EVEN RUN." for the (quite high)cost of the entrance you got a bottle of water, free ebtrance for 1 to race day (which means you spend more money, so not really a gift) and a naff t-shirt. We were promised chip timers but that never happened and at the end of the race you just ambled off! If you live locally, have enough money and want a fast time then go for it. If you want a fun run with a good atmosphere then don't bother!

In short: mud was deeper and the water seemed wetter this year. I ran with 11 18 year students in their 1st ever race and they had a ball!
In full: PARKING - Superb, short walk to the start
CHANGING - Basic and the que for the bag storage was mental
RACE - Brilliant. Wet and muddy, well organised, good fun. bottle necks here and there but who cares
NOT GOOD? what were the crappy cargo nets all about? They were rubbish
I ran as part of a school team, all running in their 1st ever race and they were buzzing afterwards - All want to race again and the smiles on their faces in photos show how much fun this race is.

In short: Probably the most enjoyable horrible race you will ever do.
In full: Excellent, silly fun. There were a few bottle knecks but I did not mind as the chances of a PB were slim at best! Thanks for a great day.
