In short: Excellent day, friendly people. In full: First time at this event and will definitely repeat. Organised and friendly. Basically flat but surprisingly testing. Probably my own fault for starting too quickly.
If I was very picky I think the bag recovery could have been a bit better organised.
Overall though very impressive. Date of review: July 5, 2009
In short: A great way to spend Saturday evening. In full: Well organised, well marshalled, 6.00pm on a Saturday a perfect time for a 10K. Quite tough in parts but overall a nice course. See you next yesr. Date of review: June 14, 2009
In short: A privilege to be there. In full: 5th FLM and a PB despite weather. Almost perfect and I suspect that the minor irritation of slow moving runners too far forward at the start is insoluble if people continue to insist on putting unachievable times on their entries. Otherwise, a totally awesome event. Total organisation brilliant. GNR people need to look and learn especially in baggage handling. Crowds this year were spectacular and inspiring for a middle-aged bloke from the Black Country down in the big city. Thanks to everyone involved. Date of review: April 28, 2009
In short: Excellent until the baggage bus......... In full: Great weather, PB, fantastic crowds. It ought to be perfect but.... From reading other reviews, I was lucky to be towards the front and didn't have lots of problems with overcrowding although a certain amount of dodging from side to side was necessary. Pre-race, during, and the initial finish area were great for me, but the baggage bus experience, chaotic 40 minute wait to get bag back, and then 2 hours to get back into Newcastle, even on a supposed 'priority' coach, took the gloss off a memorable weekend. My first GNR. Not sure about another one. Date of review: October 15, 2008
In short: It gets better every year. In full: This is the 4th time I've had the privilege to take part in this amazing event and it gets better every time I do it. Lucky enough to record a PB of 4:17 this time. Everything has already been said about the crowds on the course but I can feel the hairs standing up on the back of my neck just thinking about it. Would love to be back next year but maybe I should give someone else a chance to experience this unique occasion. Date of review: April 28, 2006
In short: Great day, enjoyed every minute. In full: Enjoyed it much better than Silverstone which I ran in 2004. Excellent atmosphere and course. Only slight downside as mentioned elsewhere was the wait for bags at the end. Hope to be back next year. Date of review: March 21, 2006
