In short: wonderful race .good atmosphere and friendly fellow runners.undulating rather than hilly.excellent long t shirt at the end.my only gripe was that they had run out of x large t shirts at the end which was when the bulk of us x large were finishing.

In short: vERY WET.Excellent atmosphere and a good route made a great run
In full: One of my local races.Unfortunately the weather was very wet prior to the race and it made it squelchy under foot around the park. After this there was a long climb followed by a flat section along a farm track.then a short downhill section and then on the level for awhile before the final finish along the lime tree avenue in the park.Well organised. The children thoroughly enjoyed the fun runs. we will certainly be back next year when hopefully it will be warmer so that I can enjoy a cool beer in the beer tent.

In short: Predominately a walkers event.Charming undulating course on 95% footpaths. No chance of a personal bestn but just enjoy a local charity event with the bonus of a beer tent and a pub at the end
In full: This is a charming village walk which allowed runners to enter for the first time this year.I entered the 8.5 mile course. The weather was warm and this together with an undulating course on predominately footpaths made the run seem quite hard. There were marshalls on the parts which crossed roads but otherwise the markers were red and white banners and blue arrows painted on the ground. This worked ok apart from one section between the 6 and 7 mile stage where I and 3 other runners went astray and followed a lovely downhill section of single track road for approx. 1/2 mile only to find at the bottom that we had missed the route. After some headscratching and guess work we were able to rejoin the route but our spirits were deflated having lost some minutes. However this is a fun run and not a serious road running route. The course is excellent and there was a good spirit throughout. The run started with a jazz band and the starter was the fragrant Mary Archer. After a little meandering through the back of the village on narrow paths we joined a disused railway for a mile or so.This was slightly uphill but was a delight. The course then went onto footpaths and was undulating. The last 1/2 mile was on a fast wide track which made up for my navigation error.Overall an excellent run. There is no chance of a personal best but the views and the friendliness of the event easily made up for that.Hopefully the 10 mile road race which I have entered in a couple of weeks will seem easy in comparison. One more water stop would have been very welcome for the runners. However the event is primarily for walkers and therefore I can understand why it was not included. There is a beer tent/ice cream van and hot dogs at the end which provided ample refreshment.Another plus point is the inclusion of a 2 mile nature trail which I walked with the family at the end.All in all a great morning out.
