In short: A monster race In full: Fabulous event, great marshalls & supporters, amazing scenery. Definitely undulating but the scenery andthe atmosphere took your mind off that. The problems with the buses did not spoil the atmosphere at the start it just meant we got to look at the beauty even longer. The start in the middle of a valley was awesome and the pipers were a lovely touch. Even the weather was perfect. Also liked the breakfast run on the Saturday and the Pasta party. Cant fault this race and cant wait to come back and have another look for that monster. Date of review: October 13, 2009

In short: Excellent on all counts In full: A fantastic course, brilliant marshalls and an amazing atmosphere before, during and after the race (usually lots of people disappear quckly when the race is done, not so here)and excellent organisation. Loved the brass band and the organ player in the middle of the woods, WOW!. Some truly amazing spot prizes (I won a Garmin) and I am still finding stuff in my goody bag, how do they do it for the money. Even had chip timing. A real feel good race and nearly didnt do this as still recovering from Loch Ness marathon last week, glad I did & cant wait for next year Date of review: October 12, 2009

In short: Brilliant , fantastic, very special & different race in amazing countryside In full: This must be the best race of the year, 14 lovely miles, if not a little challenging in places, in glorious countryside and not like any other race. The sight and sound of the train whistle and the cheering spectators is really something special, what a brilliant atmosphere, beats any big city marathon. Fantastic marshalls and loads of drinks stations. Great t shirt, medal and goody bag too, cant fault this race and hope it carries on for many more years Date of review: August 24, 2009

In short: A brilliant way to spend a Saturday morning In full: This was a fantastic race, though quite tough. The views were amazing as were the hills and the bogs!!!. Best fiver spent. Good marshalls and support along the route. Think the distance was reduced from 8 to 7 miles due to a very boggy bit. A guest appearance from Dr.Ron Hill (MBE) too. Cant wait for next year, thanks & very well done Abbey Runners Date of review: July 27, 2009

In short: A fantastic event, great course, great atmosphere. Quite tough though In full: Loved this race, the organisation and the atmosphere were brilliant. Some very friendly encouraging marshalls and other runners. The hills were quite tough though, not especially big hills but long ones. The off road section was brilliant if you could avoid all the slippy stuff!! Was disappointed with my time as a personal worst for a half marathon so far this year but that will make me come back next year. Loved the mug too and plenty to do at the show to keep families busy whilst the race was on. EXCELLENT Date of review: July 20, 2009
