In short: trail race for beginners
In full: a broad mix of runners (not too many club runners) make this less competative than most other races. raced on gravel tracks with an odd stony section and the occasional elevation.
plenty of snacks for all at the end. a good evening racing and a personnal best finishing position for me. can't make race 3, but see you for race 4.

In short: if you like the smaller events, this one's for you.
In full: one of the first races on my calendar each year.
hot this year led to a slowish time, but still enjoyable.

In short: faultless organisation and great atmosphere
In full: another fantastic race put together by nick and his team. the local residents were also out in force to cheer everyone on. i didn't see a glum face all day.
one suggestion for the future. if the race is run on a hot day again, could the first drinks station have the bottled drinks and the finish have the juice in plastic cups. i know the race is normally run in february and wouldn't be an issue then, but you never know what the weather will do.

In short: tough in places mainly due to conditions underfoot.
In full: Wilmslow RC have some testing races on the calendar. This is another one even though the big climb was taken out due to the mud.
Tough competition up front, but a good mix of runners further back makes this a race for anyone.
Very efficient organised event with well marked out course.
Could anyone tell me how the 2 girls toward the back of the field manage to finish without any mud on them, even their trainers still had white on them "quite amazing".

In short: trail run for anyone
In full: If you've not done a trail race before this would be a great introduction. It's got enough ups and downs to keep things interesting, but nothing major.

In short: Great atmosphere for a great race
In full: Well done Buxton. Where are you all missing out on this little gem. Even though i'm recovering from injury and only decided to race after the warm up went ok, i came in with a half decent time. The hills were long but gentle. The downhills were steeper. Only gripe-the fair at the finish. My daughter dragging me onto the waltzers as soon as i finished.

In short: A mixture of road and trail.
In full: I love these smaller events, especially when all profits go to charity. Well done Wilmslow running club again. Great varied course around the southern perimeter of the airport. The river Bollin tunnel under the runway is spectacular and gets your spirits up for the short sharp hill straight after it. All good fun.

In short: excellently organised event. marshalls gave great encouragement especially when i needed it.
In full: Well-made a complete pigs ear of my pacing. first time i looked at my watch was at 10k. I was 6 minutes ahead of what i planned. I certainly got wrapped up in the atmosphere of this one. The hills were not as bad as i feared-just more of them. I thank the marshalls for their encouragement in the last 5 miles and boy did i need it. I'm proud of myself for running the whole way when it would have been so easy to have walked up the gradients in the last few miles.

In short: hardest race i've ever competed in.
In full: From the start i felt good and started passing fellow runners at a steady rate. At the turning point across the river i must have been in the top 20. I then realised why everyone had been taking it easy. The toughest steepest couple of climbs i've ever undertaken. From that point everyone who i had passed earlier passed me over the next 2 miles. I will be ready for the hills next year. Great race despite the pain.

In full: faultless organised event. very supportive friendly marshalls and lots of them. my wife set a new PB so to those who think it's too hilly -try harder-.
