In short: A good route, a bit tight in places
In full: This was an enjoyable race, though a bit clubby,, think I counted at least 8 or so different clubs. After some delay with the set-up we were eventually able to register. The two lap route was fairly easy with only a couple of hills. Overall inoffensive and a good off roader

In short: Excellent local race
In full: This was a very friendly local race with a great atmosphere. The route was lovely through country lanes and with a nice off road section. Challenging enough not to be boring too. Very well organised and am looking forward to next year.

In short: The Beast Was Tamed - Excellent Fun
In full: Expected it to be challenging and freezing, and it was. Excellent fun and brilliantly organised. Lots of marshalls, who were very encouraging. A good mix of fast and slow runners and lots of people who were mad enough to complete the two laps. Very muddy and undulating, the water obstacles were welcome to keep the burning quads under control. Banged my knee on the first lap but managed to complete both laps. Liked the t-shirt and the goody bag and the free vitamin water was welcome. Lots of refreshments was great too, hot coffee when we finish is a must! Can't fault the organisation. An excellent race and a welcome change from the usual road run. This is definitely one for the running diary, THE BEAST IS THE BEST!!

In short: Good for a training run, lack of atmosphere
In full: There was a definite lack in the organisation side. The registration instructions we were emailed were wrong:NO STICKER FOR THE BIKE, ONLY ONE NUMBER FOR YOUR FRONT, SHOULD HAVE BEEN ONE FOR THE BACK. The lack of racking for the bikes was disappointing, had to lean them against a wall. Course was good, challenging and hilly, though the second lap on the bike was slightly confusing.
On finishing, I was one of the last and only just got a goodie bag and t-shirt, however my husband, who finished a good ten minutes ahead of me, didn't get a t-shirt cos the large size had gone! He wasn't very pleased. If you would like some hints to do better next time:
NUMBERS FOR THE BIKES
DO WHAT YOU SAID YOU WOULD IN THE INSTRUCTIONS YOU SENT OUT
GIVE OUT GOODY BAGS AND T-SHIRTS WHEN RUNNERS COLLECT NUMBERS BEFORE THE RACE STARTS
MAKE SURE THE REFRESHMENT STAND DOESN'T CLOSE BEFORE THE LAST COMPETITOR FINISHES! I WAS VERY TIRED AND CRANKY WHEN I COULDN'T GET A HOT DRINK.
Overall, the bad organisation made it a disappointing experience.

In short: Challenging but good fun and great atmosphere
In full: This was a very clubby race with some really good runners but beginners seemed welcome, though there weren't many running the 15km. The organisation was excellent, and I liked the music playing at the finish. A challenging course, which was good training and a nice medal at the finish.

In short: Excellent local race, very well organised.
In full: Brilliant organisation, unusual for a first race.Beautiful scenery, with just a few hills. The hot weather made it tougher but it was still enjoyable. A quick field but with enough slower runners at the back. The water bottle was a change from a medal and the tea and hotdogs at the guides centre were great. Well done to all the organisers.

In short: Brilliant! Everyone should do this at least once.
In full: This is now one of my regular races, if only for the fit para's that passed me with their packs. I ran the course without and respect to all those who ran with a pack. Thoroughly enjoyed it, even with the short, sharp hills and the water ditch was a nice refreshing change. Excellent atmosphere, organisation and marshalling and the red devils finished it off nicely. Only a shame half the winners weren't there to pick up the prizes at the end.

In short: Where were the mile markers??
In full: A flat ish inoffensive course that has promise but needs to have more mile markers. Only saw one for five miles and ten miles. Realised there were more spray painted on the floor, if there was time to spray them on the floor then there was time to put proper ones out. Thankfully I only ran the half marathon, if I ran the full marathon I would have lost the will to live.

In short: Good flat-ish route, perfect for a pb.
In full: A nice local race, good value for money. Good for the lots of fast club runners to get a pb but also a perfect training run for the beginner and improver.

In short: A brilliant race yet again
In full: This was a wonderful race and as someone who has done it before, is a highlight of my calendar. Though the wind made it challenging and the usual mud was hard work, this race is well worth it and one day I may just beat that blasted train
