In short: Fantastic race, great atmosphere in a great location
In full: The only problem I found was the queues to get to the racecourse and I had set out in plenty of time so I can appreciate the organisers delaying the start for 10 mins to give everyone a chance to get to the start. As always this is a lovely race (but why did the radio woman on the mike keep saying it wasnt a race?? then why are there prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd position winners??) through the City of York and back to the racecourse. Lots of support along the way, bottled water stations, finishers t-shirt and plenty of lucozade sports drink at the finish. Always a great carnival atmosphere, with rides for the kids and stalls to look round - something for everyone running or not.I already have my season ticket for next year - Hull, Leeds & York.

In short: Scenic & hilly, fantastic organisation
In full: Plenty of parking, cheery marshalls, water stations and a testing course set around Eccup reservoir. All that hill training came in very handy! Very well organised, nice finish area with another drinks station and a paperweight memento for all finishers - different to the usual medal/t-shirt. Will definately be back next year

In short: Fantastic race over the never ending Humber Bridge
In full: Brilliant organisation, great course, lots of support from locals with hose pipes, water guns and wine gums! The water stations were well manned and very much needed in the heat. With it being so warm I took the decision to take it steady and this saw me through to the finish running all the way - even the hills, so was really pleased with my run even though it was my slowest half yet, but better to finish than not. Passed lots of people being attended to by the St Johns Ambulance, they were very well prepared and were with people almost immediately. Hope everyone is okay & recovered to race another day.

In short: Excellent, well organised race
In full: As always very well organised, route around Leeds city centre so not going to be very picturesque, but great for those watching as it provides several viewpoints without having to move far. The crowd support and atmosphere was fantastic in spite of the rain! Nice T-shirt and usual non-goody bag for all finishers, plenty of bottled water on route. Good race for both elite and beginner runners.

In short: Testing city half marathon, very busy but fantastic
In full: The hilly parts were long & testing, however there were the downhill sections too. Plenty of water throughout the route and at the finish and in handy sized bottles, however no sports drinks available until after the finish line. Well organised for toilets, baggage store, marshalls etc. Chip timing & text with finish time & placing. Nice t-shirt and medal to finish, goody bag disappointing. Although the heat made parts of this unbearable - which was no fault of the organisers, I would definately do this race again

In short: Tough & fantastic - great atmosphere
In full: Crowded but wouldnt have it any other way,it all adds to the carnival atmosphere. Fantastic support from the spectators which helped in the tougher moments. So warm this year, saw lots of people walking. Plenty of drink available on the course - and the showers were very welcome! Heart warming to see those who had collapsed at the final 400m being carried/helped to the finish by others. Baggage collection, tag disposal and goody bag areas ran very smoothly, very well organised. Nice to see Richard Branson handing out the medals.

In short: Lovely pb race, hilly enough to test you!
In full: If you want a good 5 mile pb race then it is for you. Snape Hill will test you but once at the top then it levels out before the descent back to the finish. Starts & finishes on a go-cart track so the field is well spaced out by the time you hit the roads. Encouraging marshalls, plenty of car parking, toilets etc. and a nice t-shirt to finish.

In short: 2011 Race
In full: Once again a brilliant race, fantastic, encouraging marshalls, tech t-shirt and chocolate bars galore! Plenty of toilets & parking however the only downside seemed to be the number/chip collection area. This had been changed from last year (which ran like clockwork) to a smaller area and the queues to the collection tables werent clear, mixed with pre-race nerves - there were a lot of stressed people! However everything else was fantastic, Knavesmire Harriers know how to organise a race so I am sure they will take note for next year. Lovely course through North Yorkshire countryside and pb potential. I'll be back next year

In short: Fantastic fast & fairly flat pb potential course in city centre
In full: Not the most scenic courses! but its fast and the potential for a pb make this one race not to miss. The downsides to this: long queues for the toilets and even longer one for the baggage store - we didnt use this in the end - deciding that a quick dash to the car to leave belongings would be quicker. The start area was flagged in time order and the runners numbers were colour coded too however people could just go where they wanted and the usual thing happened in that people who know they are not going to run/havent trained for that speed are at the very front at the startline! Otherwise great organisation and also fantastic to be able to block traffic on this extremely busy road in & out of the city centre.

In short: Hilly course, fantastic organisation & great atmosphere
In full: One of my favourite races, this is a hilly course through picturesque North Yorkshire. The marshalls were encouraging and the organisation very slick - like clockwork. Lovely finish in the courtyard of Ripley Castle then to collect your goody bag (full of sweets, chocolate & pasta)and long sleeved t-shirt.
