In short: Great weather with the whole village watching or running?! In full: Hilly start then a long steady k downhill where you can pick up some time before the mile drag up. The uphill is met twice but it still catches a fair few folk out.
Really well organised with plenty of marshalls from the Scouts and two drinks stations this time which you pass on both laps. With the georgeous weather, I`m sure plenty of runners will have appreciated the water!
Great local race which deservedly sells out year after year! Date of review: March 11, 2012

In short: bigger field this year . . In full: but still went smoothly.
Weather was tricky with wind and hale during first hour. Most marshalls were good but there were only 2 water stations (4.5 and 10)with small water bottles.
It is certainly a fast course although the wind made me notice inclines more than I had done in previous years! However, I`m quite chuffed that I got a PB at Catforth for the third year running, this time by 3 seconds!
A very doable course with a decent range of abilities. Date of review: January 3, 2012

In short: 30th ! In full: enjoyed it.
very smoothly organised. obvious / fun theme and weather amenable.
great value with a decent goody bag (bar, bottle, sweatband, pen, voucher) with a tech t-shirt with a great design.
well done worksop harriers! Date of review: October 30, 2011

In short: Loved it! In full: Re-visited this race having done it as a beginner 2 years ago after being given a number last minute by a friend.
Parking in a muddy field is a pain but it is very rural (thanks to everyone who pushed us out at the end!!!). The start is very narrow and congested but, after that, you get the stunning view down the lake from the dam! This year there was a lot of support and a decent mix of runners although it is very popular with clubs in Wales,Midlands and the North West.
Water was in bottles and I appreciated the jelly baby station too. Nice medal although it was just handed to you wrapped up rather than ready to wear but that`s nit-picking.
No PB but close despite limited training. I`ll be back! Date of review: September 13, 2011

In short: Definitley multi-terrain In full: Love races that start / finish on the track, then park, fields, woodland tracks, estate pavements then back into a crazy climb in Venon Park.
I thought this was well organised with signage, plenty of marshalls, 2 water stations and k markers plus the commentator was very enthusiatic.
Negatives were getting only water and a generic race series t-shirt in the `goody bag` and lots of switchbacks, especially in the last 2km, although it was seeing nice other runners.
Tough course but fun and a real test for a field that seemed to contain plenty of beginners! Date of review: August 21, 2011

In short: Nice race but 10k?! In full: Good cause and a nice event but it must have been short imho (a lap of the lakes cannot be exactly 5k).
Quite a small 10k field in Sheffield of 81 runners and a good spread of ability. A shame that more folk didn`t do it and a pity that you had to wear the cotton t-shirt provided; surely there could be a better way to show solidarity?! Maybe provide a tech t-shirt or vest or something else to publicise the cause.
Hope it is back in 2012, remeasured. Date of review: July 27, 2011

In short: I love this race! In full: Despite being `injured`, I decided to do this race with a friend because I enjoyed it so much in 2010.
Lovely evening with the whole village out in the sun, watching whilst quaffing beer. I was suffering but you have to love the view of Bess` house on the way there and the crazy upflat to the halfway point.
Only down note was some old git at the end overtaking us and then saying that I ought to be `ashamed` of myself for being beaten by a V70, not jokingly. I pointed out that I was just jogging it to help my mate not racing having finished quite high up last year!!!
Try this one! Date of review: July 27, 2011

In short: Hottest day of the year? In full: Did it hoping for a decent time but it was very warm on the seafront after the turnaround.
Well organised, worthy cause and a bargain with tech shirt, banana and sports drink. Quality turnout too. Date of review: July 4, 2011

In short: Flat. In full: Potentially a quick race but the area is very open and so prone to winds.
On the day, it was very warm and windy too making it surprisingly tough in my experience.
Well organised with a sensible base on the playing fields. The goody bag was good, until my mug cracked the first time I tried to use it!!! Date of review: June 21, 2011

In short: Great location, tough race wth no sight of THE house!!! In full: Changeable weather kept us guessing!
A quick first k then a tough, grassy start to the 4k of climbing. Up on narrow paths and then wider tracks until you reach the lovely lake at the top and then down quickly for 3k. The final 1.5k are on estate roads.
Amazing location not fully taken advantage of. Very expensive with just a water bottle (useful though) as a reward but no organisational issues that abounded in 2010 apparently. Date of review: June 21, 2011
