In short: Worst race I've been to in a very long time! In full: Matt, I'll see your crock and raise you a barrel!!!
Like my clubmate, myself and a dozen or so other runners went off course owing to the appalling and unforgiveable absence of a marshall at a key turn. Cost me £25 for second V40, could have been worse - first women, who was streets ahead missed out on a PB and £125. Shockingly inept course and race management. I think that at the very least the organisers should offer all affected a free entry for next year - not that I'd use it as I have absolutely no intention of ever returning to such a joke of a race. In short: Excellent, well organised race In full: Thank you Notfast for putting on a great race. Thoroughly enjoyed the day. Only slight fly in the ointment was the delay with the results, but other than that, it was spot on all counts. Date of review: July 13, 2009
In short: Brilliant race In full: A super, very well organised village race. Excellent, super-fast route through picturesque countryside. Without the wind that we had this year, then this would be pure speed. Will definitely be back, as this is a PB course without a shadow of a doubt. Thanks to the organisers for a great race. In short: Damn quick!!! In full: Had heard that this one was fast and the rumours were right! Well organised, almost pancake flat, very quick course on quiet roads and country lanes with barely any traffic. Excellent job Wrexham AC. Only suggestion would be to have a clock at the finish and get the results online a bit quicker. Date of review: February 16, 2009
In short: Great race, slickly run excellent event. In full: Decided to drive down from Notts to do this, rather than do my local race on the same day, the excellent Keyworth Turkey Trot.
Absolutely delighted to have made that decision, as I have to say the Bedford Half is a brilliantly well-organised and deceptively quick half. Any self-respecting, world-class, Swiss watch manufacturer would be proud to be able to deliver something of this calibre.
Marshalls were in abundance, helpful, attentive and cheery. Will be pencilling this in for next year and for the forseeable future.
Thank you Bedford Harriers for an outstanding day out. Date of review: December 14, 2008
In short: Definite PB potential In full: There's no question that the course is as flat as a pancake and therefore has definite PB potential. However, much like races held around Holme Pierrepont in my neck of the woods (Nottingham) it's rare for the it to be a sufficiently windless day to really get as fast a time as a course this flat could yield. Nevertheless, definitely PB potential and a very well organised, well marshalled and enjoyable race. Extremely generous prizes too, going 10 deep into senior mens and womens categories with vets/masters prizes too :-) Date of review: April 7, 2008
In short: Good course, pants organisation. In full: Totally stunned that a race such as this could fail to deliver so spectacularly. The "Runners Village" was an homage to trench warfare during WW1 and the delay at the start was a great way to guarantee that everyone was wet, cold and thoroughly p1ssed-off before the gun went. Considering that other races of a similar size and price (e.g. London Marathon) can get it together, why can't Bath???
That said, the course is quite quick (but not lightning fast) and the supporters and marshalls were great. Date of review: March 19, 2008
In short: Superb event - loved it! In full: Absolutely brilliant race organised by a Swiss watch manufacturer masquerading as a running club - at least that's my guess as the whole event runs like a well-oiled machine. Great marshals, great route, beautiful weather this year, all made for a delightful day out. That you Stamford Striders. Date of review: February 11, 2008
In short: Fastest 10k I've ever seen In full: This is a superb race. Sells out every year and with good reason. The course is lightning fast, flat-as-a-pancake, can't imagine anything flatter this side of Holland. Only quibble would be to suggest that the turnaround point be a little further out so that the finish is on the road - there is a very short section of rutted track and field to finish on. However, I suspect the Police will not allow this.
Results were online before I even got home and I only live ~20 miles away.
In short an absolutely brilliant race with a virtually guaranteed PB provided the wind isn't blowing - it wasn't yesterday and I think myself and many others took some serious chunks off their best times as a consequence.
Thank you Southwell Running Club. Date of review: December 31, 2007
In short: Superb. Absolutely cracking run. In full: Thoroughly enjoyed this one. My very fond memories of the 2005 event were entirely accurate. It's hard to imagine having more fun than this.......whilst running ;-) Date of review: August 19, 2007
