In short: It certainly is a sun (or should that be wind after today) of a beach of a run
In full: It was difficult enough without the wind but certainly a feeling of elation once conquered.
Well organised and the encouragement from the marshalls and other race officials was second to none.

In short: A superbly organised race
In full: If you yearn for the pre-Sunday trading hours days, when runners did have the roads to themselves, then get and do this one next year. Superb organisation, road closures, great community ownership of "their" event and not a single chain store rep - stamping his feet over lost business - in sight

In short: Enjoyable! Tourist dodging apart
In full: The really big benefit of this race being on a hot summery day is being able to drag those aching legs just a short distance to the nearest beach and have the next best thing to an ice bath

In short: A flat marathon under the watchful eye of Big Ben Nevis
In full: Shame about that narrow footpath - complete with posts - so soon after the start. But overall a very well organised event. It seemed that the organisers reacted to the hot weather by providing more drinks stations. This was very commendable & welcome.
After crossing the finish line having practically melted in my shoes, I would have given my right arm to be up Ben Nevis which, at that point, was covered in snow!

In short: Tough inclines offset by generous declines
In full: Start was a bit haphazard, I was only in the sub 70 mins section but could not hear the starter. Otherwise a well organised event with a good test of a course

In short: A good venue for Seb (Coe) spotting
In full: Almost as flat as a pancake (save the hill approx 1.25 miles from the end. But I remember this for PB's in consecutive years.

In short: Useful for a pre-London Marathon time trial
In full: Good news! You don't have to run up & down those big white cliffs.
Bad news! There are still hills. Watch out for the one just after the 8 mile mark. It is considerably longer than it might first appear.

In short: Wot no hills! I was beginning to think such courses didn't exist!
In full: A superbly scheduled London Marathon warm-up; with a bonus of not being in the middle of nowhere if you do pull out (never more than 5 miles from the finish line).

In short: "26 miles 385 yards of agony & ecstacy" They weren't kidding on the former!
In full: Actually I did this one in 1998 but the years on this system don't go back that far.
As if the climbs weren't enough, this particular weekend Wales was battered & flooded by storms. Thus, between miles 12 & 21 we were running directly into a hideously strong wind. Respite at mile 21 then ? Not likely! I'm sure I don't need to remind anyone who has run this race what happens at mile 21!

In short: Sand, seaweed, rocks, cliffs, steps, causeways and, oh yes, salt watery puddles.
In full: Achieved my highest ever individual placing at this race (ok, so it's a small field but what the hell). A tough, challenging race but one which I would definately recommend to anyone wanting a race with a difference.
