In short: If only every marathon was as well organised! If only every marshal was as friendly as this! If only every spectator pushed you along the whole route as they did! Brathay you did it! In full: FANTASTIC! I was a very happy marathon runner on Sunday I could not fault this one! Registered on the Saturday and the volunteers where very helpful, parked on the grass 50 yards from the finish line! Wow! Family enjoyed the entertainment and fun day whilst I was running and everyone seemed to have a smile on there face. I personally did not find it has hilly as some are saying and would not be put off if you are a beginner and think there are massive hills, more moderate undulations although I am used to running marathons such as Snowdon, north Devon, Brighton trail, Hebden bridge etc etc. The scenery is lovely and on a nicer day could make you want to stop and admire the beauty of the lakes rather than putting in a good time, unfortunately Snowdon is still my favourite marathon of all time but this one would rank up there. Well done the 10 in 10 a fantastic achievement in difficult weather conditions a massive life time achievement, being an ultra marathon mad runner I would love to do the 10 in 10 next year and raise thousands for Brathay. Watch this space!
In short: Got lost due to lack of Marshals and flags with around 30% of the runners! In full: Shame, great event and a great day but one big problem, 30% of the runners got lost on a run which you do not need to navigate on! Date of review: April 6, 2011
In short: Great and well organised marathon, no loop just one streightish run with a few little hills along one side of the Ness with a great finish! In full: A wet Sunday morning and over 3,000 competitors started the 2010 Loch Ness marathon including myself, words cant describe how much I enjoyed this marathon set in a beautiful location and started around 8 miles north of Fort Augustus. The marathon followed Loch Ness north bound until the finish at Inverness. A well organised fantastic run saw me finish in a time of 4 hours 17 mins 44sec (1372 place), not my fastest marathon but the course did have a few climbs along the way and I must admit that I concentrated more on the scenery instead of pushing myself along, despite this I ran all the 26.2mile with a smile on my face.
