In short: Well worth the effort of travelling down from Yorkshire
In full: The medal and goodie bag collection was chaos until someone thought of taking them into the crowd.
For most of the time it was akin to running in a football crowd which precluded any PB.
Frustration was due to thoughtless runners dodging in and out ( which caused one or two tumbles ) and slower runners (walkers) being two or three abreast ! Spectator intrusion was also a problem in places.
I never saw any pacers and the promised music was sparse ?
I would suggest that in future the pens are more stringently enforced and instead of a blanket 2hour pen this is broken down
into 2.15, 2.30 etc ( see the results )
On the plus side apart from the industrial estate the atmosphere was good and for a big city event well organised.
Despite what other participants have reported ,
by following the organisers recommendations for parking facilities I found leaving the city comparatively easy.
This event is well worth entering.

In short: Well worth the effort
In full: Many twists and turns but all the better for it if a PB was not being attempted.
The first 1K was iffy as the course was along the main road pavement and the number of entrants forced runners onto the road.
On completion some of the later finishes were offered towels ( of good quality ) instead of the advertised t-shirt.Whilst admirable, not all runners are happy with this type of award. Can we stick to the advertised in future please.
However a well organised event which I shall definately be entering again.

In short: A typical coastal running event
In full: However -----------
Has the thin end of the wedge been exposed?
Medals were presented to the first 100 finishers only resulting in many disappointments - come on we all enjoy a medal don't we?
Is this elitism ( or even ageism )?
Noted on this event were fun runners, charity runners and wrinklies. Why was it thought necessary to award medals to fit, regular and club runners only.
I have no personal gripe with the fact that a limited number of medals were awarded as this was advertised prior to the event.I do however passionately feel that all participants should be treated the same despite ability and age.
On a positive side I have enjoyed the several Legacy events which I have attended this year and have only praise for the ones which they organise.
Could we do better in the future please ?

In short: A good event for a first timer
In full: The idea of wave starts was good except quite a few participants had ideas above their abilities.
The first half mile, with the chance of a quick downhill getaway, was hindered by the narrowness of the course and walkers.
The 'there and back course' was OK for speed but boring. Not much support on the Hillsborough end.
The last mile was hardish due to the two inclines which certainly stopped a few of the runners in their tracks - but after all this is Sheffield - what was to be expected?
Did anyone see or hear the band playing?
I would however recommend the event for any first time runner as the camaraderie was good and there were many runners in the same boat resulting in not feeling left out or overpowered by club runners

In short: An event well worth the effort
In full: The course is mega-flat and has PB potential.
However in adverse conditions this view could well be reversed. However on the day the event ran like clockwork with support around the course. The start venue was brilliant with abundant parking.Water stations at the correct locations and the bottles were the right size.
On completion we were rewarded with medal, banana, water and wagon wheel (I am sure these were larger in my youth?).
A good event.

In short: A tough event in the warm conditions
In full: A small turnout in a historic park. The route could be described as being off road as it comprised park paths , some back to earth, pathways through woodlands and gravel.Suprisingly several steep stepped climbs existed which certainly threw you out of your running rhythm.Overall a challenging unusual route which certainly gave one a thorough workout.A friendly event worth a look at.
Unfortunately the same medal as the previous Legacy event at Leigh Village!

In short: This is a must fun run being a conducted tour of York
In full: An excellent start venue at York Racecourse with bags of parking and a picnic atmosphere on
the grass.
The weather was warm and attracted masses of cheering supporters around the route. This event is possibly the best of the three Tomlinson ones which are held annually in Yorkshire.
The medal and t-shirt were of good quality.
Recommended to one and all!

In short: An event well worth the effort
In full: A wet Sunday did not help as the route was covered in puddles and was muddy in places. The slopes were short and sharp and should not put off any future entrant.Congestion occurred at the start after the first field but after that was OK.One runner was heard to remark that the event was akin to a cross country event - on the day with the awful weather he was not far wrong.
Well worth a coat of looking at!

In short: An event which is a change from tarmac pounding
In full: Excellent arrangements on a warmish day.
This is an event that any runner should have a go at.There are no fears for new runners or plodders
as there is always something to look at or receiving encouragement from marshalls. The public on the race route only add to the uniqueness of the event as most folk get out of the way.Well worth entering!

In short: An event well worth the effort
In full: Despite the warnings about the 'hills' the only one of note was the first one - most folk ( at the back )walked this. The rest of the route was flattish or about half way decidedly downhill!
Support albeit sparse and intermittant was vocal in the housing estates and along the roads which were traversed.Back-up was good and marshalling was excellent and encouraging.
The medal , t-shirt and goody bag were very good.
Overall , compliments to the organisers on a well run event which really was a pussy cat in wolf's clothings.
