2008 Diet Coke East Kilbride Half Marathon
 | | Overall score | | 80% | | Would you do it again? | | Yes | | | | Details: | | Scenery | | 40% | | PB potential | | 80% | | Atmosphere | | 80% | | Organisation | | 80% | | Value | | 80% | | Beginner-friendliness | | 100% |
In short: A well organised race again - let down by the weather. In full: This is a quick course though the strong wind this year had a slowing effect. The heavy rain towards the end will have left a lot of runners and marshalls very wet and East Kilbride on a grey day is not that exciting. I would still recommend both the half and the 10k though. 2008 Vale of Leven 10K Polaroid Series
 | | Overall score | | 60% | | Would you do it again? | | Maybe | | | | Details: | | Scenery | | 60% | | PB potential | | 60% | | Atmosphere | | 40% | | Organisation | | 40% | | Value | | 60% | | Beginner-friendliness | | 60% |
In short: Has room for improvement In full: The race crosses a number of junctions that are open to traffic and could really do with more marshalls or a move to a route with less traffic. Given that this is the Scottish 10K championship it should be an outstanding not an average race. Date of review: July 1, 2008

In short: A rewarding evening by the seaside In full: I believe there were some problems with a lack of water for slower runners, the organisers have held their hands up to this error. Otherwise this is a well organised and well supported 10k on a fast and flat course. Date of review: May 8, 2008

In short: First class event. Well done Balfron In full: This is a fantastic little race. Ok the hills make a PB a real challenge, that is more than compensated for by the perfect organisation, the friendly atmosphere and the thoughtful touches. Segments of orange on a warm day were very welcome, the organisers had clearly listened to last year's feedback and changed both the start and finish arrangements and introduced chip timing and the marchals on the course and at the water stations were determined to help you enjoy a great day out. Fantastic! Date of review: April 28, 2008

In short: I'm sure to be back again next year. In full: I've done this for the last 7 years and it's still one of the races I most look forward to. Moving the finish line back to it's traditional position was a smart move and the support in the last 200 metres was great. Not so much support out on the course, although the Sikhs were there again with their extra drink's station. Things that could be improved aregetting the race packs out earlier and providing more toilets at the start. Date of review: September 15, 2007

In short: Year after year this proves to be a great race. In full: Well done yet again to Bellahouston Roadrunners for organising this great little race. The whole thing is put together extremely well topped off by the great selection of home baking and other goodies at the end. The enforced move to the Bowling Club this year made things a little cramped afterwards, apart from that everything was first class. Date of review: August 23, 2007

In short: A definite challenge, and fun as well In full: Didn't know what to expect and found it harder than I expected though not as wet or muddy despite the torrential rain the night before. Some more markers in the denser wooded areas would have been appreciated. I'd definitely give it another go next year. Date of review: July 16, 2007

2007 Diet Coke East Kilbride Half Marathon

In short: If you're looking for a flat, fast, well-organised race this is a first-class candidate. In full: The only thing that let's this half down is the fact that two laps of East Kilbride's roundabouts is not visually very stimulating. The weather this year was just about perfect, dry and warm yet not too hot, there are 6 water stations on the course which is very well marshalled and policed and a friendly atmosphere at the start/finish and from the small knots of spectators on the course. A decent enough goody bag, t-shirt and slightly cheap looking medal are the rewards at the end Date of review: June 24, 2007

2007 Vale of Leven 10K Polaroid Series

In short: This could, with a bit of thought, be a really good race. In full: When the weather is good, as it was, you can't ask for a better backdrop than Loch Lomond and the surrounding hills for a race. It's a shame then that the course itself whilst mostly flat after the climb to 2K is pretty uninspiring. The marshalling out on the course could have been better to avoid unnecessary zig-zagging across the road. On the plus side the Polaroid medals are always distinctive and a bit better than the average. Date of review: June 22, 2007

2007 Dunfermline City Half-Marathon
 | | Overall score | | 80% | | Would you do it again? | | Yes | | | | Details: | | Scenery | | 60% | | PB potential | | 60% | | Atmosphere | | 60% | | Organisation | | 80% | | Value | | 80% | | Beginner-friendliness | | 60% |
In short: Well organised as usual, weather was pretty kind, disappointing turnout though. In full: Strangely flat atmosphere this year compared to when I've run it before. Perhaps the weather put some people off and the clash with Edinburgh marathon should never have ben allowed by Scottish Athletics. Pittencrief Park is a great location to start and finish a race and the course is a challenging one without being too hard. There was good support in places, excellent marshalling and policing and plenty of well-stocked water stations. A distinctive medal and a good quality bag were the reward for those that did race.
