In short: I felt that the race organisation was noticeably poor this year.
In full: The route was different and with perhaps more inclines (or hills depending on your fitness!). I thought it more challenging but perhaps I was affected by the dull wet weather. I did enjoy the race. I wondered why the changing facilities had been reduced and so also were the toilet facilities. The GSR used to have a nice welcome home at the finish now it is too impersonal with signs for your championchip signs for your goody bag and I had to laugh at a big sign nailed to a tree 'Bananas'. I missed my hot tea from the ladies at the end but perhaps I was tryinfg to find my way back to baggage and changing. Honest I did enjoy the day but...

In short: Much improved after 4 years but organisers are not past the learning stage yet
In full: I enjoyed this race despite the poor toilet provision, cobbles, relay runners, poor reception at the finish and the poor goody bag. All that is now standard for this race.
Water and energy drink was greatly improved and the route was easier to attract elite.
Edinburgh CC are right to pull out and challenge the organisers to find a BIG sponsor. Possibly the organisers are afraid of losing control over their race but after 4 years they have done their bit. Thanks. Time to move on and allow a big sponsor to test if Edinburgh can support a big Marathon field without swelling the publicity with a Relay field. I don't think the Marathon can survive on its own but the Relay possibly could under current management.
NB. Elite wont turn up unless the route teases them with a PB. Edinburgh is a long way from offering big money without that BIG sponsor

In short: A super run and generally reflects 24 years of experience.
In full: You cannot blame organisers for the temperatures. You can blame competitors for not allowing for the heat and running without hats shades and sunscreen. An extra waterstop between 5 and 9 miles would have been useful but last minute changes are difficult.Plenty water at the end of any race is appreciated but I didn't see any.The goody bag was a let down-my oatcakes were out of date!I think a better designed medal is overdue - Helensburgh has a lovely design.

In short: Disappointing Expo, loos, goodybag, route and welcome home at the finish. Tuesday - I cannot find results on web.
