In short: lovely day, great race In full: Some days you look around and think this is why I run. Seeing the countryside coated with snow gave me one of those feelings yesterday in one of the best races of the year. It might have been cold but it was actually a lovely day to run.
The race is fast, flat and attracts a lot of club runners - I think even more so this year being too close to FLM for some of the more casual runners. Traffic is not a problem. For next year please cut the grass on the 50m run in to the finish ;-) Finishers mug is far better than a cheap t-shirt too. Massage afterwards was nice too. Seems they catered for everything. Well done white horse harriers. Date of review: April 7, 2008
In short: What running is all about In full: Spring time running in the countryside. Lovely course with enough hills to keep you working but not take it out of you too much. Weather was perfect this year too.
Pity some runners had to spoil it and upset locals by peeing in public. It seems some people have to be told how to behave in public. Date of review: March 10, 2008
In short: faultless In full: Even the weather was good. I find this a challenging race but its a superb warm up for a spring marathon. Can't quite believe how well provided we were with bottled water, energy drinks, chocky and jelly babies. Good goodies and sweatshirt at the end too.
superbly marshalled as well Date of review: March 10, 2008
In short: Great start to the year In full: Very fast course though a little twisty at times. Can't say I missed the support with it being so short. It seemed mainly club runners but that helps when chasing a PB. That said, seemed friendly enough for beginners so they should not be put off.
Nice tea towel memento instead of another t-shirt for bed. Date of review: January 3, 2008
In short: Great end to the running year In full: In my view there is nothing bad to be said about this race. The scenery is as scenic as it gets in early winter with a mix of country lanes and residential areas though more on the country village side than your housing estate. The traffic was excellently controlled and the marshals were a cheerful and helpful lot. Maybe you would not choose a hilly course if looking for a PB but the quality of the field aids immensely. Congratulations to Sneyd Striders on another excellent event. Date of review: December 10, 2007
In short: Interesting In full: Lack of changing facilities would be my only criticism. One of the more interesting places to run. Can be a bit exposed on the race track but that kept it cool too. Nice to race one of the less common distances as well.
In short: good atmosphere In full: Lots of water stations and sponges were great. Not as flat in first 6 as I thought and the greenway section was mind numbing. However nice race all in all with a really nice atmosphere. Great organisation First race where I could here the tanoy at the beginning. Date of review: May 1, 2007
In short: Great run In full: My 3rd time and I always forget how hard this race is. If it wasn't for the hills, wind and hail this would be a nice little jog. Takes a lot out of you but its a great run. Date of review: March 19, 2007
In short: Good fun in atrocious conditions In full: Very well organised and marshalled in atrocious conditions. Hats off to the marshals who were out there for hours. I felt the hills were quite harsh and strength sapping especially with the winds. Great preparation for a marathon Date of review: March 5, 2007
