In short: typical charity run half - good for 1st timers In full: Nice enough run once I'd got parked, get a feeling some people may have been panicking to get to the start, but as it was chip-to-chip I was quite happy to start at the back.
I'm not sure if running thru Colchester High St is really a good idea, viz a vis traffic, as I saw some idiot drivers on the run, but support was good.
So... hope they raised lots of money, and as it sold out, will continue to do so, just probably not with me running it again. Date of review: March 17, 2013
In short: Nice run - Very flat In full: 1st time at Lydd, was as advertised, very flat, great for running but a bit dull scenery. Wind somewhat of a problem, but didn't expect anything else.
Only niggle was venue, bit cramped but hey - is a small town, But....... Changing rooms, some of us like a shower afterwards, especially if we're cold and wet, and at Lydd, in mens changing room anyway, there were 2 showers, neither of which worked - no water at all. I presume the organisers pay hire charge for use of the facilities - so clean, clutter-free changing rooms, with showers that work, please. Date of review: March 10, 2013
In short: nice run through pleasant countryside, well organised. In full: just too echo previous reviewers this is a nice, well-organised 10miler with little or no traffic, in fact can't remember a single car!
But, just in case anyones think of doing this as a first time race, remember, no showers or changing facilities, so if it had been like Billericay the week before where we got drenched! it may not be quite so much fun.
Other than that, all good, nice medal to get slung in the bag with all the others, pity I didn't read the small print and bring an extra t shirt, but thats my own fault - some runners prefer medals, me, I'd like a new pair of socks as a memento, but don't suppose I'm in a majority there! In short: nice, well organised trail run In full: really enjoyable trail run over 13.1? miles of lovely Herts countryside. 1st few miles a bit uppish and some long drags, but extremely well sign-posted, didn't need my instructions once, and very well marshalled - a credit to the organisers! I think(hope) the course was a bit long, as it seemed to take me longer than normal for a half, but could just be me!
But overall, an excellent run. Date of review: September 23, 2012
In short: Beautiful, Brilliant, but brutal In full: Do this race every year when I can, so thought I knew what to expect - but this year! So muddy, was wearing my trail shoes so no slipping/sliding and I love the downhills, but by 10 my legs had just gone. That thick mud just drains me, but all that means was I could really appreciate the glorious views as an excuse to slow down. As regards the value and facilities - Oscar should try the Hellrunner or Turbofilth, which cost more, give you less and leave you to change in a carpark afterwards! So well done Liss Runners, just the best race ever. Date of review: August 6, 2012
In short: so-so swim, nice bike, good run, not sure if fast guys would appreciate transitions in the park. In full: As a backmarker, yes, last green hat out of the water, I enjoyed the rest of the Tri, didn't really like the muddy estuary, but cycle and run were good.
As I was'nt that fussed over times (you can't be with my swimming) crowded park and crossovers of bikes/runners, cars and pedestrians did'nt bother me, but I did wonder what the fast guys made of it all. Not sure if I'd have liked to run the park 4 times, twice was enough - the novelty had worn off by 2nd lap!
Overall a good Tri, and for myself as a runner who does the occasional tri, was fine. Date of review: July 16, 2012
