In short: One of my favourites In full: Don't know why but I also enjoy this challenging run on a Friday evening organised by a great bunch. The university campus is surprisingly hilly but scenic with it and a pleasure to run round. Excellent facilities and organisation - thanks guys. Date of review: August 7, 2009

In short: Ouch! In full: Trying to forget about this one as it marked a first - last finisher! My own fault as I'd run a 10k race on the Friday night still recovering from a calf strain. Glorious countryside low key trail run organised by a village school PTA with many enthusiastic marshalls, thanks for waiting guys. Date of review: July 28, 2009

In short: Not quite as flat as suggested In full: Removing the big hill has meant running mainly through the leafy suburbs which are still undulating and a bit boring but what with current traffic restrictions understandable. Harrogate is always worth a visit though, even when it's wet. Organisation fine with very good and numerous marshalls around the winding course and a decent goody bag. Arriving early enough means never having a problem parking and the results are on http://www.ukresults.net/2009/harrogate10k.html Date of review: July 27, 2009

In short: Worth doing In full: First time for this race and not dissapointed. Easy enough to find (!) and get to, loads of parking well marshalled, smooth organisation, slight uphill start and up on to the bridge, cracking views especially on such a bright sunny day, drop to the other end and back up over the bridge with another drop at the end, well marsalled with enthusiastic volunteers, can't find fault really, what else do you want on a Sunday morning? :-) Well done to the organisers. In short: One of my favourites In full: Not too dull a route considering it's Salford, what's wrong with running around the cemetery twice? :-) I'm sure there must be worse parts of Greater Manchester... It's flat and fast and a great start to the Easter weekend. Having missed out on a memento before (being a slow runner)I'm now pleased to see all finishers getting something now. Thanks Salford Harriers. Date of review: April 11, 2009

In short: Could do much better In full: With a new course around Rother Valley country park much easier to run than in Graves Park. Trying to be constructive, pre race literature has to make it clear there will be huge traffic problems if you don't set off in good time. Thanks for the free car parking voucher but there was no-one to direct traffic inside the park causing chaos. It was nearly as bad leaving which I put down to changing the normal RV10k from Saturday to Sunday with more people about. Perhaps changing it back with an earlier start time than noon might help. The facilities were somewhat stretched given the numbers but seemed to cope. Given the charity nature the race has become it led to far more fun runners clogging up the start and first lap. Pens were provided but there was nothing in the pre race literature nor were they marshalled leading to people walking in the first few hundred yards and getting in the way generally. I am NOT elitist but I wish fun runners would start in the appropriate place and then not weave in and out of the field without any regard to other runners. As already stated, the start was delayed, I didn't hear any announcement other than one at about 12.20 saying it would start in 5 minutes when there were still people jogging to the start. The finish area was allowed to be swamped with family, friends etc with few marshalls evident leading to chaos again. I wish this race well and hope it raises loads of money for the childrens' hospital but it's not for me I'm afraid. Date of review: April 5, 2009

In short: Enjoyable romp through the snow! In full: Very well organised event with friendly and encouraging marshalls in all the right places, thanks for standing in the cold guys and gals. Gently undulating course starting on the road for the first 3k then out into the countryside which this year was covered in snow but not unduly difficult, could've done with sunglasses though! Good finish back on the road and cutting through to the school fields. Will be back next year. Date of review: February 9, 2009

In short: Excellent start to 2009 In full: Always enjoy this flat and fast run even with lack of sleep. Age is catching up with me though as I was lapped but hey-ho, it'll happen to them one day! Although traffic seems to get busier every year most are pretty patient and there also seemed to be more spectators/supporters. Always well organised and puts a smug smile on your face - thanks Cleethorpes AC. Date of review: January 1, 2009

In short: Ditch the registration In full: Good 10k race in Sherwood Pines country park but numbers well up on last year and registration couldn't cope leading to a delayed start. Why the need? Otherwise a good event that deserves to succeed. Date of review: October 19, 2008

In short: Up and down, up and down, up and down... In full: Despite a lack of training I still enjoyed this undulating multi terrain race in the rain, mud and streams. Well marshalled/marked and policed, well done guys. Easy parking and good facilities, one to enjoy. Date of review: October 5, 2008
