In short: Brilliant again, but now straining at the seams In full: Once again Marlow Striders did a wonderful job. This is a glorious course through Buckinghamshire woodland with 2 horrific climbs at mile 8 and 11. Really well marshalled and many thanks to all who helped out. Great support from local residents/spectators too. One of my highlights of the year.
The race feels like it is getting too big now though with lots of congestion at race hq (though none on the course); 45 minute queues for toilets and big queues for hot drinks afterwards. Please dont let it grow any bigger! Date of review: November 7, 2010
In short: Fantastic organisation and stunning scenery In full: My favourite race of the year. Varied but always scenic route partially through forest, partially over open fields and downs. The marshalling is exceptional. A really first class race. Thanks to the organisers! Date of review: October 11, 2010
In short: Great variety of terrain, some lovely views, but half marathon was 14 miles not 13! In full: Very interesting race with some great scenery and challenging terrain. Not a huge amount of support from the locals but plenty of atmosphere provided by the scenery. Sandwich, cake and tea at the end were perfect. Only disappointment was a rather miserable last mile of finish which contrasted starkly with the great scenery of most of rest of run.
And would be worth making sure everyone knows that the course is 14 miles not 13! Date of review: September 13, 2010
In short: Fantastic scenery, watch out for extra .6 km at end of advertised 15k! In full: First time running this. Very well marshalled and organised. Extremely scenic though very hilly. Only challenge I had was in finding the cricket club (map not great..). Did get one surprise as I wound up my speed for last 500m (according to GPS) only to find that there was an extra 600m to run beyond 15k. Date of review: October 22, 2009
In short: Fairly flat course, well organised, good facilities and friendly In full: Well organised. Course itself is pretty flat (for buckinghamshire). Not particularly scenic but worth doing. Date of review: August 13, 2006
In short: A great village event, steep 1K hill at start otherwise flat In full: Takes place in a small village near High Wycombe. Very friendly organisation and nice community feel - started by local MP, also incuded kiddie fun races. Run is very rural though largely flat. Lots of views of ploughed fields. No support out on course (not a surprise as often on private roads) but nice and cheery at start/finish. Very well marshalled. Date of review: June 18, 2006
In short: Friendly race well marshalled too hilly for PB In full: Figure of 8 circuit with first half very hilly through countryside, second half flat through village. c 250 runners well organised good local support and starts from local sports centre with loads of parking Date of review: May 30, 2006
In short: Poor pre race communication and admin, race itself ok In full: Received my running number with no joining instructions, no idea even of start location or available car parks. No website to check either. Signposting on the day through town also poor. Race HQ turned out to be ok. Race itself was fine through nice countryside. Quite hilly so no PB potential. Well marshalled. Not a lot of support en route though. Date of review: March 6, 2006
In short: Lovely wooded countryside, very friendly, very wet In full: Great race, though long hills in first couple of miles, at mile 9 and at mile 11, so no PB chance. Chest label chips were a bit of a palaver, and given the rain, would have been nice to have larger changing tent ... one gazebo does not a male changing room make..
Nice T shirt as well ! Date of review: November 7, 2005
