In short: Great little event if you like long hills and great views
In full: The race review was a bit missleading. There was not a lot of mud and there were only two long hills but highly enjoyable and would do again. A great route on mostly wide trails with a few small lane sections. Long downhill run in. Quite small signs but route fairly obvious. Only one grip. On the route, after the first hill, either make sure the runners use the track or have the route use the road.

In short: Mix up with marshalls again!
In full: Did not run this year due to a event clash but heard about the leaders being pointed in the wrong direction. This has happened in the past a few times. Will Alton RC ever learn! They must tighten up their signage and marshals to ensure this does not happen again. It's a nice course and I note the numbers are down. Someone from Alton RC really needs to shake this race up and get it back to the glory it used to have.

In short: Always enjoy this race over lovely chalk downland paths and tracks
In full: Perhaps not a good idea after my last race was in June. Legs ached from the 3 mile point. Went well up the hills but struggled on the down. Plenty of those! Great, friendly race over lovely scenary. Signage could be better but if nobody went wrong not a problem. Looking forward to next year already!

In short: Lovely rural traffic free lane course
In full: Great to have so many road closed to traffic . Someone must have worked hard on the paperwork! Nice rolling rural lane course with a few hills ; all the more interesting . Great support from the locals.

In short: Fun in the mud and on the slopes
In full: Not done this for a few years and now knew what I missed . Slippy, slidey first few miles then the fun really begins up and down the steep chalk escarpment four tough times . Then the run in to "the shoe wash" (cold knee deep river) and another 1/2 mile to the finish. Great event if you don't mind the slopes.

In short: A good change from road racing
In full: Small , nice , different trace over roads , farm tracks , woods and fields . Well worth doing although not a great deal of views from the top of the Down . Signage could be improved slightly - ran out of arrows over the muddy field! But all in all not a bad event . Thanks to all the marshals who stood in the pouring rain and thanks to Hugh.
Any chance of running the route the opposite way next year? Then it would be a hilly race.

In short: Lovely Downland + woodland secenary
In full: I always enjoy this excellent trail race over beautiful Hampshire country side and a good start and finish. Lots of variety and views.
Thanks Portsmouth Joggers for a great morning . One small thing that let it down was the signage and marshalling . Was it a first time race director? If so all is forgiven and thanks for volenteering . Don't let complaints get you down and learn from this year . The signs were too small , there were not enough of them and some were in the wrong place . Marshals were brillient but some not in the best place . Take the turn up hill after Idsworth Church and under the railway . You only saw the small sign as you got to the turn . Easy to miss and continue down the wide concrete drive . Ideally you need a marshal here or if not two large signs you can at least see from 25 metres away.
Borrow the signs if you need to and get help to lay the course out or it will need to be done the evening before and then checked in the morning.
Please don't let this put you organising . You'll get there!

In short: Great on the gravelly tracks
In full: Always enjoy this one . Nice wide gravelly tracks to get into your stride . A few short sharp hills but that's part of the challenge. Plenty of family and friends cheering the runners one . The split worrid me a bit but I had no problem . You just had to be aware it was coming and look out for the signs. Same again next year please Charles.
