In short: Great start to the year. In full: Despite the hill, a fast-ish race with PB potential. Great views out over the channel towards the snow-capped Brecon Beacons during the warm-up along the beach. Another well organised Weston AC event and a good supportive crowd considering this is a small event. Date of review: January 2, 2010

In short: Well worth risking the gale In full: I was sure this was going to be a slog when I woke up to the sound of the wind and heavy rain at 6 in the morning. But this turned out to be one of my favourite races this year. The rain held off and the hedges kept the wind at bay (mostly). Good atmosphere with a nice mixture of club and non-affiliated runners. Some of the marshalls might have been a bit more animated and a lot of the residents just looked startled, but it's always easier running in these conditions than standing around cheering others on, I suppose. The soup at the end is always a nice touch. Date of review: November 1, 2009

In full: Very well organised, excellent goody bag (especially the T-shirt), and a fantastic crowd along many parts of the route. But I wouldn't call this flat. Okay, so there are no real hills and neither is it exactly undulating all the way, but I found it a long hard slog from the 10 mile marker to just beyond the 12th. (And I do usually train on hills, do trail runs etc. so it's not just a case of not being used to hills. Or that I'm bitter on missing out on a PB!) But really enjoyable. Well done, Chippenham. In short: Just when you think you might be on for a PB they go and stick a hill in it. In full: Really enjoyable race. I'd been warned about the hill at the end, but it still came as a nasty surprise. That said, this can be very fast in places. Well organised and marshalled, but I didn't see any kilometre markers until 7k. Otherwise a really good run with a nice mixture of club and non-club runners. Date of review: April 26, 2009

In short: Great atmosphere, amazing weather. In full: First time I've run this, even though I'm local. Great support from the crowds, especially the little boy on the Toll Road turn who must have no voice left today. First multi-terrain I've done in nearly two years; it made me realise what I've been missing. Date of review: February 23, 2009

In short: challenging, but rewarding in an aching kind of way In full: First time I've done this, but great race and very well marshalled (thanks, Nailsea RC). The hill between the 2nd and 5th kilometre is challenging, but not a killer. Another drink's station would have been good given the heat, but hard to say where you'd put it. Any other day one drink station would have been enough, though. Date of review: June 9, 2008

In short: Treads that thin line between very undulating and downright hilly. In full: Enjoyable despite the rain. First five miles are quite challenging, involving a 3.5 mile climb. Seemed more hilly to me than just undulating, so get some hill training in if you're thinking of doing this one for the first time. Good T-shirt. Date of review: July 16, 2007

In short: Good atmosphere, good course, good marshalling. In full: Probably not quite as much forest trail as I would have liked. Seemed a shame to skirt along the edge of the forest on tarmac roads at times, but this did make it fast on the 2nd half. Otherwise, really good race - very well marshalled, brilliant scenery and a medal! (always welcome!) Date of review: June 24, 2007

In short: Well organised, good atmosphere depite the rain. In full: Only the 2nd time I've fun this, but the hill didn't seem quite such a climb this year. Good crowd despite the weather. Date of review: June 2, 2007
