In short: Flat, and mainly fast In full: 1.5km on gravel road & 500m on the school field at the finish take some of the speed away from this course. Having said that, it's still quick and is pretty well organised. Water station was a help yourself situation this year which is difficult when running quickly (I lost most of the water from my cup). Perhaps a few more helpers could have been there, as there seemed to be an excess of marshalls.
Enjoyable event though with a nice atmosphere. Date of review: October 12, 2008
In short: Challenging but enjoyable In full: The ups were a bit tougher than I'd expected but it was an enjoyable event.
Seemed to be a bit of a delay starting and the mile markers seemed to be a bit random (especially 4 & 5 miles). Results still aren't up despite chip timing, although large field so perhaps understandable.
Great atmosphere though and good crowds in the parks. Grass finish wasn't too bad despite the rain we've experienced recently. Date of review: September 14, 2008
In short: more water required In full: For a half marathon at the end of July, I was surprised that there were only 3 water stations - under UK Athletics rules, race organisers must provide water every 5km as a minimum. That means 4 water stations for a half marathon.
Aside from that, a good course, but made tougher by the weather. Pretty well organised given difficulties with open roads etc. Good goody back with lots of Lucozade products. Toothbrush was a bit random though Date of review: July 30, 2008
In short: Tough course but well run event In full: The hill (run twice) is a killer but an otherwise enjoyable event. Well marshalled and signed, although not certain all the km markers were in the right place. Date of review: July 4, 2008
In short: Great event, really enjoyed it In full: Start and finish in a park but other than that not a whole lot to look at. Flat course though and definite PB potential, I knocked over a minute off mine.
Bargain entry and good organisation. Start delayed by 5 mins but that was to allow the fun runners to finish so you can't complain about that. Date of review: June 15, 2008
In short: Absolutely BRILLIANT In full: I was on the Good For Age start and the whole event was amazing. Expo on Saturday was easy (no queues), getting to start was easy, started on time. Brilliant crowds - THANKS to every supporter. Best way to see the London sights. Although expensive, it's well worth it. Will definitely be back again Date of review: April 16, 2008
In short: Poor Organisation In full: No runners instructions pre-race. Had to find the HQ by Googling it. No marshall 100m into race at fork in road and as a result whole field went the wrong way. Marshalls around the rest of the course were poor - just stood there without actually directing. I had to ask a number o fmarshalls which way to go. Wind made it harder but I suspect on a still day it could be a good PB course. Will most likely race again next year and hope organisation is better. Date of review: March 30, 2008
In short: Another great event In full: Bit of a delay to the start again which is a shame, but the road closures were excellent to be fair. I hear some of the leading runners went wrong which is disappointing that could happen.
For those bothered about the goody bag, there was alot in there, including a medal & t-shirt. Will be back again next year Date of review: March 2, 2008
In short: Weather didn't help In full: Wouldn't do this again, but only because it's a long way from home.
Generally a good course, although the first lap is a bit confusing going through the estate. The trail section is tough going, especially on the second lap. Didn't help that it had rained so much. Date of review: December 2, 2007
