In short: A great if tough marathonthe new off road bits a bit rough after the bad weather
In full: What a weekend. The sun swathed New Forest was the place to be and the marathon a truly great event. Run not by a running club but a commitee whose main function is to raise money for charity. They did a great job. So no goody bag! so what! The value of this race was the location, supporters, and the fantatic helpers.

In short: a great race with excellent facilities plus a free swim.
In full: Nice and shady through the woods the two lap can tempt the faint hearted to opt out. The changing facilities with great showers; why do a lot of people(males) just spray deoderant and miss the shower? The free swim in the out door pool for a nice cool down. Good job

In short: a great event the weather made it a suntan day if a bit hot
In full: This is one of the best of the downs marathons. The view as you drop down to cross the river bridge is as good as it gets. The forcast rain did not appear, who trains these weather men/women. It was wall to wall sun with the many spectators relaxing spread out on the grass in the first real day of summer. I had the wrong shoes on after last year when I and many others worn road shoes and as a result did a good inpersonation of bambi on ice. This year it was, hot, hard and rocky. My poor feet suffered(moan moan) I did meet a young lady on the way round, it was her first marathon and she finished in style. There were a few errors on the marshalling side a few marshal seem to leave early and it was ok if you knew the route but tired runners can get lost. Furthermore my wife on the half marathon walk was not impressed as she and acouple of other walkers were sent thewrong way. On the whole a great race on a brilliant day well done.

In short: The support gets better by the year. My thanks to them all
In full: This was my 18th and last London(??) each year the support has increased along the whole course and now rivals New York. The previous bleak run through the docklands building sites is now a mass of fantastic support many of them locals. I still miss the cobbles and the riverside of the Tower. It may be faster but it takes one of Londons most scenic sites out. So Kenyans fall over on bends; so what! let them run the current route and let the rest of us round the tower again. I miss the beefeaters to. The organization of the routes to the coach parks at the start is now excellant as against the chaos of previous years. Ouch I sound like I may do it again next year perhaps I need to complete 20.

In short: A hard marathon with the real sting in the final 7 miles
In full: This is a great marathon. This year with a major change in its format; the marathon starting early before the half as a result there was a hold up at the start. But this was minor and all the marshals and drinks station were well organised and suportive in spite of the often agressive Sunday car drivers making their task very hard. I understand one marshall has been injured by a hit and run incident. Very sad I hope the driver is caught and delt with. The race itself was perfect weather warm and little wind. The sun stayed behind the clouds mainly so not too hot. The New Forest ponies and even two magnificently antlered stags put in apearance with the off road run through the woods a pleasure, the only flat part of the course. All that plan to run this race next year should note there is only water on the drink stations so provde your own energy drinks.

In short: an annual must do event but in March please
In full: What a race; hill after hill, bonehard offroad decents and climbs, wet woods, warm bogs full of glue. Mud dried on legs to make it feel like running in armour and diving boots. But twice trough the swamp not fair. A great big event full of real atmosphere. And the swim in the sea to end it. Well done axe valley

In short: A hard race with a tough finish down a 10 metre cliff plus 400m field
In full: I like this race the trees provide shelter fom the sun, not needed this year and the two laps are not a problem as the course is varied enough to make one wonder were you are. the big bonus is the free swim after the race to sooth the sore legs.
