In short: Always a predictably good event In full: Good way to begin Easter, especially if you do get a PB - not this year for me. The organisation is very smooth. Please don't change the starting three miles. The parking is easy and it's a smooth surface around MOP. I like the fact that the circuits allow the pack to sort itself out painlessly. As others have said, it is a very well-marshalled event. Thanks for that. Date of review: April 7, 2010

2010 Fred Hughes 10

In short: Testing new course In full: Enjoyed it once again - my third Fred Hughes, but it's a different proposition on this constantly up and down course. A well organised event, though I do agree with the comments about the start which did not seem to me to be a good place from which to attempt to start 600 people. (Nor was the previous one.) The HQ was an improvement and the marshalls gave the impression that they truly wanted to be there which is welcome - thanks. The puzzle for me was why there were 200 fewer finishers than last year. The race was said to be full so maybe the maximum field has been reduced? Date of review: January 25, 2010

2009 Buntingford Year End 10

In short: Great run on a surprisingly warm day In full: Really enjoyed a course which was considerably more undulating than I had expected. I had wanted to run at Buntingford for a couple of years but had not been able to do so for family reasons. When I was finally able to, it looked as though the icy weather would prevent it. However, the course proved to be ice free and offered a great run in almost perfect conditions for this time of year. It certainly has its ups and downs in the first half with a compensating long down section from six miles onwards. I didn't like the initial section either and think the organisers should try to find an extra loop somewhere in the countryside. That apart, a very well organised race with an unusual memento, and I will certainly be back. Date of review: December 31, 2009

In short: Running for real runners In full: Perfect race in its setting, length and difficulty. This year the sun shone too. Date of review: November 16, 2009

2009 Stevenage Half-Marathon

In short: A benign course which was tough this time In full: The weather was awful of course, but you take the luck of that when you book to run in advance. I enjoy wet conditions (perverse, I know) but not running into a wind tunnel which this was in parts. I really admire the marshalls for standing there so stoically - much harder than running on a wet day. The course is fine - a PB possibility in good conditions. I agree with another poster who suggested it may be better to do the longer loop through the park on the first lap as it's better for morale. Overall, I enjoyed it, so many thanks to FVS for organising it. Date of review: November 2, 2009
