In full: This was a fab race. Nice and flat but yes, a wee bit boring BUT lots of chances to see faster running pals and wave cheerily to them. I tried to enter on the Monday but entries closed. Contacted race oprganisers who were brilliant and let myself and another pal enter on the Weds !! Thanks guys. Brilliant seafront last few miles.

In full: This is a must do for every marathon runner. It was my 4th year - 3rd doing the marathon. It is a wonderful run, very well organised, brilliant marshalling, very friendly and enthusiastic water stations. The route change was just brilliant as even though there is still a hill to climb at mile 22, it is no way as tough at the hill you used to have to go up at mile 23 out of Sway - so excellent decision to change the route in my opinion. The route is mainly flattish with a few undulations and a couple of short sharp inclines. There are a few track off road bits and one would expect them to be slippy after the recent rain we have had so no problems there and good to get off the tarmac. I stopped to take pictures en route of the runners along stretch between miles 7 - 9 as it just looked awesome to see the line of runners stretching behind and ahead. The weather was very kind to us this year which definately helped. Last 3 years it has been hot and dry. I think having now done the marathon for 3 years it does help mentally as you know where you are and what to expect.
Few comments about the parking but I know the area and where the on road parking is. Some of my pals did park at Ballard school and were annoyed at the walk. I parked closer to the leisure centre as previous years parking knowledge have helped. Goody bag was pretty dire and a recovery drink would have been most welcome, not a big ask. Having said that, that is my only gripe as I just love this run so massive thanks for putting on a wonderful, well organised, friendly, enjoyable run yet again and keep the new route please !!

In full: I was very pleasantly surprised at this event. Had not done much training so was unsure what to expect. Long streteches of tow path running so glad I had my MP3. Very friendly marshalls en route and well mared out altho out and backs are fairly straightforward mostly. ..BUT more disrtance markers needed...in miles as well as the km's.
The only realy gripe I have has already been mentioned and that is the general mess at the finish straight...people / kids / dogs wandering all over the place. I had run for just under 5 hours and to have all that to wind through on my glory sprint was just a tad annoying. Treat it more seriously please...it was a very hot / humid day, and we had all worked our socks off to get it done. I loved the white water park and even stopped to take photos en route and a video....much to the amazement of some canoeists !!
Would I do it again ??? Yes, I think I would and would put in some decent training next time ! Thx guys.

In short: Great fun and well worth the evening out to run on a glorious beach. Friendly, enthusiastic marshalling. Medals for all the children. Cup of tea would have been icing on cake.

In full: I have to say, this was so far the highlight of my year running wise. I was one of the 'breakaway' group who got lost around 4 miles...realising at 4.5 miles...I was suddently faced with a bunch of blokes map reading...always a very worrying sign ! We all carried on and ended up back at the golf course crossing. Really rather comical. Luckily there was a local bod who directed over a hill to join road into Alfriston to get to checkpoint 5. I had done 8.5 miles by then and did the river out and back. Was just before the other group who opted not to do that...wish I'd thought of that as the path was slippy and had cow like creatures on it !! I also fell over a style..but hey...what can you do.
The weather was dire and reminded me of 3 Forts earlier in the year BUT the other runners were so friendly and chatty. The marshalls were great and knew some of us were doing a longer route and offered words of encouragement etc. I ended up doing 29.6 miles but I enjoyed it so much, I'll be back and will TRY to do the correct route next time (have since studied the map in the warmth of home and can see where we went wrong)!
Great momento....lovely atmosphere...many thanks.

In full: This was a fab event. I did the 42k and don't think I went into it giving it the respect it deserved. Was still recovering from Jack and Jill Ultra 2 weeks prior and was rather gob smacked at how tough this was !! Clearly my mistake. Extremely well organised when getting numbers, chip band thingy. Very friendly. Marshalls also friendly and lovely goodies to be had at stops. Some folk had said about the dodgy finish, weaving your way around tourists at cathedral...but I loved it. A run to respect...and I think i will do it again next year but maybe not so soon after an ultra.
