In short: The hills, the hills... are alive with the sound of runners In full: I'd run on the outh Downs before, so thought i knew what I was letting myself in for. Only Id run over Beachy Head and the sisters in the opposite direction, so was suprised and horrified to find they are even worse travelling east.. And all that after 20 odd miles of all of the other hills in the area. Not for the faint hearted, or those that like a nice flat course. Organisation was great, marshalls and checkpoints wonderful, particular favourites were the sausage rolls - though I had to stop to finish it (cant walk up hills while eating the pastry delight), and coffee and cake before tackling Beachy Head itself. Chip timing was welcome, following what I understand was a fiasco with last years results, not necessarily for split second timing purposes, but at least everyone gets recorded :) I'll be back next year, probably in the rain/snow to see if I can run even one of the sisters (I doubt it) Date of review: October 23, 2011

In short: A good course, and with more seasonal weather a pleasure to run In full: The blistering heat makes it hard to give it a fair rating I think, though this may have increased the local support. A well signed, undulating course with lots of local support and plenty of marshals. Im sure the organisers will be criticised for not putting on more water stations in the heat, but to be fair they did emphasise this on the site in the days leading up to it. Would have been a good idea to give out the larger bottles later on though, as the offerings shrank as the race progressed. All in all I'd do it again. Date of review: October 2, 2011

In short: Beautiful challenging course, well organised In full: Did the half last year, and I think the full is easier. The hills seemed less brutal, or maybe I'm just more experienced. Thanks to the marshalls, and the course markers for a job well done. Great feed/water stations at regular intervals. I'll be back again next year to wring a little more out of it, remembering to take it a little easier in the first half... Date of review: September 19, 2011

In short: A good first attempt, with a flat a fast course In full: Starting in the middle of the pack I didnt experience the fast runner overlap, but was amazed that we all came to a halt after 20 yards when the course narrowed for a pedestrian crossing. Maybe move the start further down to avoid this? The course itself was flat and quick, and pretty scenic. No complaints about the water stations -cups are fine if you want to carry water, bring your own bottle - and were staffed by enthusiastic volunteers. Many thanks for the support from the local community, it helped when pushing through the rain for the last few miles. Didnt use the baggage service either - we were starting within 200 yards of the car park. This is the first 'big' race Ive done with Purple Patch, and I think they did well - it's a far cry from the QMR series in terms of numbers and location. I'm sure they'll take on board the comments and make amendments where possible. Looking forward to wearing the same number next year. Thanks to the marshals, you did a great job. In short: Still as tough as ever In full: I didnt enjoy this race last year - at all. BUt felt I had to give it another try, and Im glad I did. Its still one of the toughtest (almost) half marathons you can do in the south, but with better pacing I found I enjoyed the challenge. Liss Runners put on a great event, in beautiful surroundings. Try it, Date of review: August 7, 2011

In short: Like clockwork In full: Its not the prettiest of courses, but offers a decent challenge. Slightly lacking in atmosphere, but thats down to the competitors really, I must go faster or slower to find the friendly folk I guess. Great value, massive goody bag with very little I won't use. Puts bigger, costlier races to shame Date of review: July 17, 2011

In short: NIce to run the course when it not frozen solid In full: A great race, lovely scenary and a solid test. Plenty to keep you occupied. Good climbs and falls, makes a flat road 10k seem dull and boring Date of review: June 26, 2011

In short: A glorious run accross the South Downs - my first marathon - loved it. In full: Loved this event. First time Ive coached to the start of an event, and it all went off without a hitch. Quite a wait at Slindon College, but breakfast was laid on at reasonable cost. Im glad the start was phased, with the relay off first, then the marathon runners, slowest first. It was inspiring to have the speed demons catching you from the half way point, having set off 40 minutes later!! The aid stations on the course cant be faulted, all worked very smoothly. Shame to see a few runners had ignored the provided bins and just chucked their bottles and gel wrappers down. The finish was confusing for me. Having crossed the line, I could have easily missed the goody bag and medal/t-shirt, and I did miss the GoodnessShakes - luckily had one waiting in the car so no big deal. If anything comes of the 'where's the technical shirt' campaign, then I'll have one. Otherwise not that bothered, more a reflection on Salomon than 2:09. Thanks to all the marshals and the team at 2:09, another great experience. I'll be back. Date of review: June 12, 2011

In short: So thats what all the fuss is about. In full: Well done to Sandhurst Joggers, the Yateley 10k is a well conceived and organised event. Handing numbers to nearly 700 runners before the event could have been a trial, but all went smoothly. Plenty of toilet facilities and a minimal delay to the start. The course is undulating, with long gentle climbs and falls along the majority of the route - making for a suprisingly fast course. Well signed and marshalled, with plenty of water and sponge stations. A runners race, organised by runners but by no means elitist. Recommend it. Date of review: June 2, 2011

In short: Worth the trip, all 1000 miles (almost) In full: Thoroughly enjoyed this race, in spite of the strong winds and variable weather. The course covers just about every surface possible. Very well organised, fantastic medal and extras. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this event, in fact the whole weekend to anyone who enjoys running. Well done Date of review: May 30, 2011
