In short: Epic weather this year!
In full: What could have been a nice fast flat course along the sea front turned into a remake of "The Cruel Sea"! Crashing waves leaping over the sea walls to drench tired runners battling against a gale force headwind. Fabulous atmosphere before, during and after this race with a good sesne of cameraderie brought on by the horrific conditions. Marshalls remained encouraging and cheery despite standing in the drenching spray. A truly memorable run!

In short: A Must Do 10k race
In full: You dont get many bigger fields for a 10k race unless you pay silly money for a "Premium" event. A cracking course, clockwork organisation, great atmosphere and good chance of a PB are enough to make this a excellent value and a Must Do race.

The two motorway bridges provide a real sting in the tail towards the end of an otherwise flat course, and the long finish straight lined with spectators encourages most runners into an exctiting sprint finish!

I always prefer a medal after a race, but even I have to admit to being pretty chuffed with the embroidered commemorative towel! This race isnt hugely popular without good reason.

In short: Fast 10 mile course
In full: A largely flat course with a wicked incline before the finish just to make it hurt at the end! Course open to traffic but very few cars on the road, and mainly just supportive cyclists! Very well marshalled, (particularly the water station which was run brilliantly). More than a bit disappointed with no medal afer 10 miles hard slog - just a bottle of beer and no goody bag.

In short: Beginner Friendly Fun Run
In full: This is a perfect beginners race with not a club vest in sight! Nice flat-ish course around Sefton Park in Liverpool, with every entrant running for a charity of some sort. This is an inclusive and fun event for the whoe family rather than a competitive race. Measured exactly 5k according to my Garmin and the Goody bag was absoloutely packed with stuff - very pleased with it.
The warm up guy was a scary sight in those lycra shorts though!

In short: This is how to organise a 10k!
In full: First class organistaion and professionalism throughout - yet still a highly enjoyable, friendly and fun event.
The route is breeze for the first 3.5 miles, going generally downhill, followed by a bit of test on the way back with some long gradients. I didnt PB but it has potential!

New runners would enjoy the event, particularly the spread of experience and times throughout the field.
I highly recommend this run and will be doing it again in January - A belter!

Oh - and the medal is one of the best I've had, especially for the price!

In short: Scenic, hilly and competitive
In full: Course runs from Keswick School over the suspension bridge and through Portinscale and then a loop through the Newlands Valley before heading back through Portinscale and back to the start. A lot of club and fell runners made this a fit and formidable looking field, and as a relative beginner I felt a little out of my depth at registration!
The course itself takes in some killer inclines, and some fast downhill sections, all with the glory of Catbells and Skiddaw mountains as a back drop: inspiring scenery when you can see it throug hthe drizzle!
Excellent marsahlling and organisation meant it all went off like clockwork.
Entry fee for non-affiliated was a little steep considering all you get is race entry and a cup of tea at the end - but still a race I'd like to do again to improve my time!

In short: Flat Fast and Sceneic PB race
In full: Perfect organisation from start to finish makes this scenic, and snooker table flat course an ideal PB event.
Mile markers located with admirable accuracy help you to pace out a good fast race on a course that has only 2 small bridges over the canal as the only inclines in the whole run.
The roads were open for the second lap but very little traffic in this part of th world meant tha tthis just wasnt a problem.
Faultless marshalling, a packed goody bag and a quality medal makes this a MUST DO event - I'll certainly be back next year.

In short: A little belter of a race
In full: Some testing inclines for the first couple of miles, but you are rewarded with beautiful scenery and a nice fast downhill finish! A medal plus supper at the end is un-beatable value. A lovely part of the world well worth a visit.

In short: Fast, slick and well supported race
In full: Fast 2 lap course but with enough long gradients to give you a work out! Although this was a club dominated field the atmosphere was friendly and supportive and beginners aiming for sub 60 minutes wont feel lonely or out of place here.

Ideal race for PB chasers with an accurately measured course that matched my Garmin to the yard! Just what you would expect from a very professionally organized event.

Coincides with the school fete so plenty for supporters to do whilst waiting for the runners to return making this a good familly event.
I will definitely return next year: one of my favourites.

In short: The emphasis on FUN and FAMILY
In full: This is a definite FUN run and not one for the elite or PB chasing serious runner. A CAFOD running vest is included in the £5 entry fee so good value, (but certificate is a little diappointing). The course is a well stewarded run through the park with a killer of a hill just before the finish! The Park remains open to the public throughout so lots of dodging kids on bikes, oblivious, strolling pedestrians and dog walkers - not ideal. The concurrent 1 mile walk makes it an all inclusive family event - just dont expect confirmed times and results etc
