In short: A brilliantly organised and well marshalled race! In full: Good course and very well organised, plus nice touch with the towel as a gift (better than just another t-shirt). I doubt I'll find cheerier Marshalls(even despite the cold) or a better organised race this year, it sets a standard! Thanks to all who helped, from the baggage tent to the finish cone. Quick field as well as some newer runners made it a great race. Date of review: January 2, 2009
In short: Nice circuit between 2 bridges and along the tyne In full: Well organised - good marshalling, good buffet and mixed crowd made for a good atmosphere. Pretty flat course with a bit of trail so less than half on road. Thanks for a good race Date of review: June 23, 2008
In short: I really enjoyed it but a shame others had problems with organisation! In full: 5th year running, better support this year - possibly as ok weather - and I really enjoyed it. Though now looking at the comments it's a real shame only the first few thousand get to feel they've had a good race! Did feel a little busier than previous too - and I was pink start right behind elite! I'll do it again but need to please more people Redaing! Well done for the music, and watching others come in there were some great costumes! Date of review: March 2, 2008
In short: Great hills, good organisation and lovely countryside In full: I actually did a pb though it was tougher than expected, should have read booklet with the profile! Well marked out with the best 'hazard' warnings I've ever seen!! bollards covered in foam and bright yellow - brilliant! I thought organisation was great - at the Hall, though a little baffling at the start and agree the times seem a little slower than watches. Some great volunteers - marshalls and baggage especially made it a great race. Water stations could have been better spread out and cups are a nightmare. Would definitely do again.
In short: Tough but worth it, marshalls were stars! In full: 3 laps round the outskirts of Luton in rain and stong wind didn't seem like the ideal way to spend a sunday morning but it was well worth it. Thanks to all the marshalls who were cheery despite being in the bad weather for hours! I especially liked the comments that I'd come along way to run in such bad weather (Gateshead Harrier)! Scenary was actually ok and the course could have been treacherous with cars and mud but felt remarkably safe. Mentally one of the tougest things I've ever done - the relay means you're starting the 20th mile with people who are on their 2nd overtaking you (thank goodness it says they're in the relay on their backs!). If I had to leave my autumn mara so late again I'd do it again. Only negative really was the train info - the first train from West Hampstead only just got me to the start in time (thank you so much to the lady sorting bags who I threw my stuff at as I was changing and running out the door!) In short: Great course and atmosphere In full: Course despite being on roads was pretty safe - well marshalled and cars gave you plenty of room. Pretty flat course with downhill start that meant quick start. Well organised - I turned up on the day and entered easily - though bags could have been more secure, some element of trust in your fellow runners required when you're all picking up bags from lines on a squash court! I'd do it again happily! Date of review: November 18, 2007
In short: Fabulous - what a great run!! In full: From the very cheery marshalls to the excellent organisation it was a great day out. Course was good - mile markers well placed and drinks just about the right distance apart. Nice fast course, not much in the way of hills, and generally ok for traffic. Will definitely being doing it again - a great atmosphere and a pb, what more can you ask for? Date of review: October 23, 2006
In short: A real shame this year after a fabulous race last year. The mud didn't help but I think some attempt should have been made to run it on the road/path. In full: Last year in battersea it was a great 10k, even despite the fact I don't usually like laps. This year it should have been called off for the weather of the previous few days, it was like a quagmire on the last lap and I seriously thought I would slip and injure myself.
It's a great charity and well organised but please next year don't try and put this on around clapham common! I know Battersea was booked but anywhere with actual paths would be ok!
Really hope to be running it next year. Date of review: March 17, 2005
In short: Well organised - so many people in such a small place and somehow everyone was well directed to car parking and it ran smoothly. A good amount of marshalls and a thoroughly enjoyable race. Nice change of direction this year! Date of review: March 17, 2005
