In short: Flat race through a park. Some on grass.
In full: Nice little race, but I felt it needed markers on the fields to show the exact route. People were cutting corners big time, but even though I felt I was going wide, I know I didn't run a 5k because of my time. Garmins were showing 2.88 miles. Bit disappointing as I wanted a PB. Sure it would have been accurate if marked out.
Grass a bit squelchy to run on, but paths ok.

Nice medals for both fun run & 5k.

Lots of cheery marshals.

In short: Very friendly, fast & cheap!
In full: The fastest 5k you'll find. Nice run round the docks.
Good medal for the fun run & t-shirt for the 5k.
Incredible value & always well organised by Lord Shoestring.

In short: Friendly race, couple of hills.
In full: Nice race mainly down country lanes.
Friendly marshals.
The hill you have to battle twice isn't huge, just quite long.
Got a PB!!

In short: Tough, but mainly because of the heat.
In full: Humber Bridge is just beautiful. It really is special running over it.
Take away the extreme heat of this years race, & this race isn't TOO hard. It was the heat that was the killer.
Long hill at 4 miles that isn't steep, just energy sapping in the heat.
Cardiac hill at 9 miles is tough, but not too evil.
Great support from the locals with hosepipes & much cheering!
They had run out of goody bags for my mate who was faster than me, though I got one ok, though I got no fruit as they'd run out.
I def do this one again, but not if this kind of heat is forecast. Next year I'll wait & check the weather forecast before entering, as I found it really hard in the heat.
I ran it all, but was still 36 mins over my recent PB!!

In short: Lovely friendly race through country villages
In full: Fab race. Lovely route through little country villages, where the locals all come out to clap, setting up hosepipes as showers!
Pretty flat, so a PB is on the cards.
Organisation spot on. Plenty of police & marshals to stop traffic.
Great expensive looking rucksack memento.
Plenty of free parking at the playing fields, with free bouncy castle for the kids as well as a fun run.
If you can make 2 hours 40, you must do this race.

In short: Not really for slower runners
In full: I didn't really enjoy this one, as I feel it's not really a race for slower runners. My PB is 2:37, but roads were quickly reopened during my race & marshals withdrawn. Very annoying having cars flying out of side roads every few steps nearly running me over as I tried to get past people as I ran on the pavement. I nearly got lost a few times too as no marshals. Speaking to other people during the race it was clear others had actually got lost & gone the wrong way. I ran the whole of it, but I feel it's a race for faster runners only.

Good support from the locals though. Medal nice, though disappointed it didn't say something on it that mentioned it was a HM.

In short: FIASCO.
In full: FIASCO. I didn't get up at 4.30am to drive from the Cader Idris race to do a 10k that was nearly a mile short. And they had run out of medals, when I pre-entered.

I missed the Ilkley trail race for this as I wanted to do a 10k race. It wasn't a 10k race.

Would I have entered a 5.4 mile race in somewhere as dull as Stoke? No I would not. I entered as I wanted a 10k race, but didn't get one.

In short: Nice little flat race by the sea.
In full: Decent course for a PB as no major hills. Nice running with a sea view.

In short: Tough, but incredible views.
In full: Forget PB's! It's over 10k anyway, & a hard hilly trail race.
But postcard views.
It was very hot this year which made it tougher, as there was no shade.
Free cake & drink at end & coaster.
