In short: Great day out, good atmosphere, good organisation, great weather! In full: My second Coventry Half and much better than last year, good to see the organisers listening to feedback and making improvements - the start in particular.
No faults this year (though I suspect mile marker 8 was out and the race clock was 1 minute slow?), but enjoyed my run, good support, good marshalling and lovely autumn scenery! Date of review: October 26, 2009

In short: Fast, flat and fantastic in the sun! In full: After helping to organise this race last year it was a pleasure to be able to run it. Weather was just about perfect, cold, sunny and little wind.
Ran my second fastest 10k, so happy with the time, and definitely has the potential to challenge my PB.
Organisation was spot on, well done to all the team at Epilepsy Action - and results online within hours of the race, fantastic! Date of review: March 29, 2009

In short: Fantastic race is the most idyllic setting In full: Loved this race, 'undulations' were challenging, and so was the weather to the turn (cold breeze, heavy rain), but run back felt like spring!
Faster than I expected, but had a good run and a feeling of having really 'raced'.
Would recommend this to anyone! Well done Eden Runners. Date of review: March 2, 2009

In short: Excellant organisation, great venue and an enjoyable race In full: My second Draycote 35 and knocked about 10 seconds off my time! Excellant organisation, great marshalls and a good course. Those 'undulations' get harder with each lap but provided shelter from the wind this year. Will be back! Date of review: February 23, 2009

In short: A really enjoyable half back in my home town! In full: Really enjoyed yesterday's run. Good course, nice mix of scenery and terrain, and I think it could actually be quite quick despite the few short sharp climbs. Will definitely be back next year for a quicker time!
Organisation was good, exceptionally no loo queues and plenty of spectators on route. Lots of water stations too for a half.
Just two pleas to the organisers. Can you sort out the mile makers - twice there were two (6 miles and 11), but not at the same point on the route, and a wider start gantry? Was a bit of a squeeze getting through, so more congested that it needed to be. I loved the downhill finish though!
Otherwise a great day, and I'll be back in 2009! Date of review: October 20, 2008

In short: Tough, very mixed terrain and really good fun! In full: My first chance to run this race and I loved it! Quite dry underfoot (except the field at the start) - so trail shoes rather than fell - brilliantly sign-posted and well marshalled. Great atmosphere at the finish too this year. Well done to all involved, already looking forward to next year! Date of review: August 31, 2008

In short: A great race in stunning countryside In full: My first time in this race - overheard someone talking about it on the train mid-week, so entered!
Very warm, humid day which made it tougher, but the scenery is just magnificent, though the climbs took their toll. Very friendly atmosphere, lots of regular club runners, not sure how many 'beginners', but a challenging event if its your first, long distance fell race (there is a half marathon alternative)
Definitely worth doing again. Date of review: June 8, 2008

In short: Superb! Scenery, mud, hills, tea and more tea! In full: A fantastic route, so many climbs, lots of mud, but great run, fantastic marshalls, plenty of fuel at checkpoints and a welcome meal at the finish. Date of review: January 8, 2008

2007 BUPA Great North Run

In short: A fantastic event and 2007 my most enjoyable so far! In full: Not my fastest race but perhaps my most enjoyable GNR (number 5). Got to start from the 'elite' runners pen - it was fab! So much space, no crowds, no queues and only metres off the start line. Ran a good 1:23 pace to mile 9 but then legs started to tire (effects of having run to the start from South Shields).
Organisation seems to improve each year, crowds are gernally fantastic but for me the real buzz is the charity village - so many people doing so much good not only for themsleves but for literally hundreds of thousands of other people - and the red arrows to boot!
Looking forward to next year! Date of review: October 1, 2007

2007 Experian Robin Hood Marathon
 | | Overall score | | 100% | | Would you do it again? | | Yes | | | | Details: | | Scenery | | 60% | | PB potential | | 80% | | Atmosphere | | 60% | | Organisation | | 60% | | Value | | 80% | | Beginner-friendliness | | 60% |
In short: Great race, tortuous route, but I really enjoyed it! In full: My third Robin Hood and my fastest by 2 minutes. Not sure the first half is any flatter or faster, just felt more twisty. One or two mile markers seemed to be out - which is always frustrating.
I really don't like this course much (and its been blowing a gale each of the last two), but I've run two of my most satisfying marathons here (I know, contradictory or what?), so chances are I'll do it again.
Overall organisation is good, not too crowded despite the numbers, plenty water stations and very helpful marshalls/St Johns Ambulance crew at the finish who helped me recover!
Well done Nottingham! Date of review: September 19, 2007
