In short: At the top of the hills you do get some lovely views....
In full: Because the race caters for runners/joggers/walkers the drinks stations are unlike anything you might encounter in a road race. Tea, soup, sausage rolls are offered at various of the stations. It's nice to stop and chat to the cheerful marshals and indeed any excuse is welcome as theres lots of climbing and descending (quads, ITBs and achillies will all take a pounding). I missed the free scoff at the end, so can't comment on this. Oh, and the baggage storage is upstairs.

In short: Lovely evening race
In full: The hill (just after 7k) is a good way to check your max HR, nice loop through the park at the end, good mix of abilities (although I can't tell you much about what happens at the sharp end)

In short: something for everyone
In full: Another well organised event. Chip timing for the first time- love the T-shirts, different (and imaginative) designs each year.

In short: Lovely local event with a kick in the tail
In full: Mostly club runners, but marshalls were offering support and encouragement to all. Course can get quite slippery (esp for the male vet/senior race, which is last) so something with a little more tread than racing flats would be useful.

In short: You will get wet and muddy
In full: There were two events in 2006 (one oop North and the Southern one), reviews seem to cover both.
Southern one- aim to get there waay early (more than the one hour in advance recommended) as access is a pig. Other than that a huge amount of fun, waist deep water, bogs and nasty, nasty, sandy hills (up one side and down the other)- I'm just off to put my kit into soak for the second time...

In short: Nice mix of events
In full: I am going to be biased on this one as it was my first event. Club vests and serious times at the front through to rehabilitated cardiac patients walking the course at the back. Three mile marker seemed to be missing? Having the childrens events and the one mile adult race means there is a respectable crowd to cheer on your achievement.
