In short: Fast course if looking for a PB In full: The weather at the strat didn't help but the couse itself is very fast with one slight incline at about 11m made up for by a downhill mile to finish. The parking could have been advertised better as could directions to the start. The scenery wasn't anything special witht e first 5m going through housing estates. Date of review: August 28, 2006
In short: A multi-turrained race. Good organisation. In full: Well organised with good support. The first 3k hard and you've got to be careful on the grass and path with all the pot holls and mole hills. Once you get on the tarmac road you can settle. A nice bright yellow t-shirt for the winter! Thanks Date of review: August 28, 2006
In short: Well organised race on a good course (which would be a very fast course if it wasn't for hte heat!) In full: Like other comments I'd agree that the start needs bringing forwards to at least 10am - especially as its the third year the heats been this bad!
Organisation was good but again would agree that st Johns need to be spread out around the course and not just at the start/finish.
In short: A fast, well organised half with plenty of water/sponge stations In full: Plus points include excellent organisation and support from the marshalls. Plenty of parking. 5 drinks stations all of which had sponges (a welcome addition with the warm werather). Fairly flat so PB potential - I knocked 8 mins off mine! but there are some gentle climbs over the motorway.
Negative points include the lane at about 11m. Trying to run through a gate broke you from your stride a bit. Coming back through the town centre was busy with traffic and roadworks.
All in all a good, friendly, well organised half Date of review: May 8, 2006
In short: Another excellent race - well organised with great marshall support In full: Thanks again for a great event - it didnt seem as bad as I remembered from last year. The hill were still there in full force and the weather didnt help but still managed to get a pb by 5mins!
The finish could do with being on the enterence to the school so you dont have to run around the field at the end, the mud made this particually difficult. there must be a loop in the estate that can make up the distance. Two of the km markers were out but all in all a great race.
The marshalls at the 25km point were particually supportive.
In short: The weather didn't help! In full: A lot more hilly that I expected made the experience a lot harded. The temporany "springboard" over the grass was difficult in the rain. Well organised and the last mile downhill was a liftsaver. Nice t-shirt although a goody bag would have been a nice touch. I think Id have enjoyed it a lot more it the weather had been better, but might do it again. Date of review: November 4, 2005
In short: Nice conditions, well organised, great support. In full: I enjoyed this a lot more that last year where I started too fast and found the Derby road hill at 8 miles a killer. Paced myself a lot better and didn't find it nearly as tough. Great support from all around the course and even managed to get a PB which was an added bonus. Perfect conditions for running made it enjoyable. Date of review: September 12, 2005
