In short: Excellent well organised race. In full: Great way to end a week. Well organised, friendly event with BBQ and children's playground in a lovely setting. Great race for a family outing. Date of review: June 23, 2007
In short: Tough marathon. Beautiful Scenery. Glad I was following other people! In full: I was just doing this as a training run for the Lyke Wake ultra so was taking it very easy and enjoying the views.
It was a great experience running through a beautiful part of the country with varied scenery.
The organisation was pretty spartan at the start and the end but didn't detract from the experience.
I enjoyed the lack of mile markers, having complained about the mile markers at White Peak 4 weeks ago!
The water stations were well spaced and everyone was very friendly.
An excellent event without the nice touches provided by a friendly running club.
I'd certainly recommend it. Date of review: June 17, 2007
In short: Well organised, supportive marshalls and the wind provided a real challenge especially on the third lap. In full: Enjoyed the challenge of the course. A well thought out course and quite scenic in places.
I really enjoyed the three laps - it certainly got me through the hilliest section through miles 20 - 23 into the teeth of the gale, because I knew that 23 - 26 miles was a downhill section without wind interference.
The relay added a bit of atmosphere to the event. It was a good motivating factor to overtake relay runners who had overtaken me at the start of their leg.
I'd rate it as an average marathon which doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't!
Well done to all those who organised the event. Date of review: December 4, 2006
In short: Very well organised on race day. Lovely flat scenic run. In full: Positively chilly after Blackpool last year, but still too hot for me. Great support from marshalls and crowd. Regular water stations. Definite PB potential on a better day. Well done to the race day organisers.
What was the expo all about? A real pain as we could only fly up on Saturday afternoon and then my envelope had my name and address on it. A second class stamp is somewhat cheaper than a taxi ride from the airport!
Entry fee was a complete rip off and yet the race still made a big loss? Something gone wrong somewhere. Perhaps the organisers and Edinburgh Council should get together for an economics lesson. Date of review: June 12, 2006
In short: Back for a second year, despit ehaving to leave at 6.30, so must say something about the race! In full: Well organised. Lovely run. Well marshalled. No atmosphere apart from encouragement from the marshalls. The only drawback is that the finish is a long way from the start. Date of review: May 14, 2006
In short: Good experience. Very well organised. In full: Definitely worth doing once, just for the experience. Excellent facilities and well organised. Great PB potential. Recomended. Date of review: May 5, 2006
