In short: Well organised, great value, great fun, well martialled - THANK YOU! In full: Brilliant organisation, not a rip off like Greatrun.org, friendly atmosphere, perfect location and facilities, funny and useful goody bag.
Oh - the run - everyone warned me about the hills. They're nowt compared to cross country just enjoy them!
In short: Brilliant - Diolch yn fawr Caerdydd - Thanks so much Cardiff! A special race, can't wait till 13/10/08! In full: What a perfect day today was - I've done events with more competitors in bigger cities but today was truly awesome - maybe it was all the Wales flags or the fact that I was running in Caerdydd but I was on an adrenaline rush all the way.
I started off too fast - big thanks to the sub 1h45m pacer who assertively told me to slow down when I told him my target time, you saved my ass - and didn't slow down properly until Bute Park. By mile 12 I had bugger all left but still managed to trundle in in 1h51m24s, I had tears of joy in my eyes as I crossed that line.
The whole thing was magnificent, the amount of water and lucozade stations (too many is never not enough and they were very wells tocked), the sites and scenery en route (breathtaking architecture in The Welsh Assembly - sorryto anyone who nearly ran into me as I slowed down to admire it- awesome view of The Millenium Stadium, spectacular start outside City Hall, bloke shouting Oggy x3 under the bridge at approx 2 miles, the lady outside the ambiwlans in Riverside holding a huge tub of Vaseline, the bloke who trod on a lucosede pouch ans squirted the stuff all over a competitor, the support from the locals, the friendly and helpful martials...I could go on forever)... what a great day.
Nice to see some fetchies around - I didn't introduce myself I'm quite shy but it was nice to know you were all really there.
Marvellous - only suggestions for improvements - get the police to sort out those bottlenecks as folk exit the castle and make sure that Race Ahead don't publish peoples mobile numbers.
Well done all on having a great race - see you next year! Date of review: October 14, 2007
In short: A well organised, fairly hilly race for all abilities, good for club runners. In full: It's a shame Runners World don't have a rating that lies somewhere between 'undulating' and 'hilly' - this would describe tis course perfectly.
One minor niggle (from an inexperienced runner) - I prefer kilometer markers - there were mile markers which can be expected from an event of this value.
