In short: Hard trail race, but good scenery & a river crossing.
In full: Some tough hills, but nice running through a forest of bluebells. Great views from the top of Beacon hill.
River crossing very funny.
Nice towel in goody bag.
Friendly marshals.
Annoying I couldn't get a reply to my emails asking if the race was full or not in the week before, as I wanted to check my postal entry had been accepted.

In short: Fabulous race, amazing atmosphere.
In full: What an atmosphere! I loved the start & finish at the stadium.
And what support from the spectators!
Bands, singers & cheering crowds on the route.
A really great race. Road closures, chip timing, good medal, t-shirt & shoebag goody bag.
A bit hilly, but generally a great first HM for people. Plenty of slower people, & support right until the end.
BRILLIANT!

In short: Hard race with brilliant scenery.
In full: This one brought new meaning to the word "undulating"! Very hilly, hard route, but lovely running down country lanes with sheep & newborn lambs to look at.
Did the 4 mile fun run too, which was good for all abilities & kids.

In short: Hilly but good!
In full: First half was hard with lots of hills. But last 2 miles mainly downhill.
T-shirt nice.
Bit of confusion over the fun run. I emailed in the week to ask about start time & distance, as nothing was listed. But when I got there they said it was just for kids & wouldn't issue me a number. But they didn't mind me running unofficially for a donation, & I even managed to scrounge a medal once all the kids got theirs!

In short: Fast & flat run round the docks.
In full: 3 laps round Preston docks. Totally flat course.
Organisation at start was a bit chaotic, with the start of the fun run delayed as people still entering. Bit confusing at start of 5 miler as no-one seemed to know what direction we were running in! But a nice run around the docks, cheap to enter, & nice medals.
Maybe sectioning off the runners from the public in places would help. Several morons with buggies just pushed them out in front of me. With so many kids around for the fun run, perhaps sectioning the runners off would help. Did get a bit fed up of kids getting in the way, wandering around as I did the main run. It's tricky having the public & runners in such a small area.

In short: Tough, muddy, hilly trail race
In full: Really good, tough trail race. Nice route through the wood. VERY muddy in places!
A memento would have been nice. £7 on the day for unattached runners is expensive if there's no memento. Friendly marshals. Good registration venue at hotel.
