In short: A very nice and challenging event In full: The run was part of a day long Jubilee celebration and the whole town was out to watch the events wich made it a bit special. The route had a nice mix of terraine and one killer hill at 5-6K. The route was also well marshalled. There was plenty of support along the route to and a thank you to the children at the top of the hill handing out jelly babies!!
A T shirt was given to all finishers but in light of the event a momento/medal may have been more appropriate.
In summary a very nice day and I hope they run the event next year! Date of review: June 5, 2012
In short: Mud Mud glorious Mud!!! In full: The foul weather turned most of the course into a mud bath. The course itself has some tasty hills and some bottlenecks.
Being kept waiting an extra 15 mins for the start didnt help nor the car park fiasco! Other than that the organisers did pretty well and so did the poor marshalls stuck out on a wet muddy course. Date of review: May 5, 2012
In short: You pay for what you get In full: This is a cheap enough race at £10 and you get a medal and a t shirt, plus a goodie bag! The course is flat and repetative and could do with chip timing. I lapped one person twice and they finnished 10 meters behind me!! It was very cold at the staet and being held waiting was not helpful plus no water at the finish. Date of review: January 16, 2012
In short: Great Race but too many bottlenecks In full: This is my second year taking part, I was hoping for a sub 70 minute run until I saw which wave I was in. I was in the last wave and spent the entire race trying to get past people and once in more open space I would then hit the rear of the wave infront. The atmosphere and crowds were great but my start position spoilt it for me. The medal is the same as last years!!! Date of review: November 1, 2011
In short: Worth getting up for! In full: My first time running this event and was pleased I did. Was disappointed at not getting a goody bag despite finnishing well inside 45 minutes!
My other gripe was why not stagger the start? with chip timing this should not be an issue. I spent the first 3 k either being stuck behind slower runners on narrow paths or having to run in the busy road to pass. Date of review: October 16, 2011
