In short: nice flat run, but another race where the entry numbers are getting too big for the venue? In full: Having done this run many times it seems odd that as the numbers go up the facilities go down. Why is it held at the car auction place if they obviously don't want runners to use what little facilities there are.And to echo others comments, surely there should be guidelines for race organisers to provide adequate numbers of toilets per runner. Although saying that, as an experienced jogger, if its a chip to chip race, missing the start is no big deal, you will still get an accurate time, which is better than making the start and then getting caught short on the run! And if its not chip to chip, its still no big deal, most runners use their own stopwatch, still better to be safe than sorry later in the run! Date of review: April 12, 2010
In short: some runs have great scenery, excellent venue, good organisation - and then theres Roding In full: I do this run every 3/4 years, always swear I'll never come back, this time I mean it! At least the Marshalls got the course right this time(no extra loop like last time I did it), but its a horrible one, the venue is dilapidated and the organisation is unobtrusive, but not in a good way. Weather not their fault and Marshalls excellent, but thats the first time on a race I've been crossed over a road by the equivalent of a lollypop lady, course is just not suitable for a big run, sorry Roding. In short: Nice race, only a few minor quibbles that might make it a really good one. In full: Race venue is a little small for the number of runners, but I suppose that is a problem caused by the races popularity - resrtict the entry slightly? Not enough "facilities", I don't know if race organisers have guidelines as to how many portaloos there must be per runner, but the queues were too long! - and no mens showers at all afterwards! Apart from that good run, liked the space blankets, needed actually, but had to be told where to get my Tshirt, can see why some people missed out, they needed to be a bit more obvious. In short: Wot - no T-shirt!!! In full: Nice race Stebbing, always enjoy it after the 1st mile, but mildly miffed not to get a t-shirt!
Apparently only the 1st 500 are guaranteed one and "late entries" may get one if their lucky. A) I didn't know I was a late entry, and B) if the race limit is a set number, most clubs over-order to ensure everyone plus the marshalls get a memento.
Any comments Stebbing? Date of review: November 8, 2009
In short: nice run, nothing memorable, well organised, good facilities, easy course, In full: Interesting that not many peeps put comments in, which is how i felt, nice run, but somehow no spark; absolutely nothing to complain about, just a pleasant run.
In short: how can running the course backwards be harder , or am i just getting older! In full: new venue, newish course, but just as wonderful, terrific race, brilliantly organised, one of my absolute favourites. Date of review: September 13, 2009
In short: A* effort by Havering for their 1st Aquathlon - Well Done In full: Really well organised swim/run, especially considering Havering are not a tri club and were using a smallish pool in width terms. Xc part was really well marshalled and a very scenic little run, all in all great fun Date of review: August 16, 2009
