In short: wonderful run through great scenery - but not easy In full: excellently organised, well done matlock, a lovely run, but the long inclines can slow you up more than you think. Much harder than London! Date of review: May 20, 2008

In short: flat course, flat run, perhaps i've done it too often! In full: Race is getting bigger, starting to show up shortcomings of location? Always used to be a favourite but now is a bit overcrowded, would not have been pleasant if it had rained more as not much shelter, don't know why we were'nt allowed inside. And to the lady who commented on the commentator, yes they can be really annoying, but he's not the worst i've heard, St Albans would drive u 2 drink!! Date of review: March 31, 2008

In short: came back after a few years away, won't come back again! In full: I used to find this run amusing in the way it was run, obviously not by a running club or even anyone who had ever been to another run, but hey, they did their best.
This one though - you could'nt park nearer than a 15 min walk and Brentwood is a notoriously difficult place to park. I'll let other people decide on the queues, I enter in advance and don't bother with baggage areas, but it was not pretty to watch. The actual run is a nice one and I had no problems, but then I've done it 10+times. As to value, this is a fund raising event, its not aimed at runners, the organisers want to make the maximum amount for charity - so they allow far more entries than they can cope with, and charge far more than the going rate. Perfectly acceptable and a great success for them. For me, never again!!!! Date of review: March 9, 2008

In short: sorry Thanet, might not be your fault but you cannot lay on a large race with no facilities In full: I have been running the Thanet 20 since 92 I think, old and new course, and have always enjoyed it, good facilities, showers, toilets, etc make up for what can be really hard runs at this time of year. This year, 6 portaloos for 500! no showers - what if it had been really raining, sorry but its not good enough. I will give it 1 more year to see if this was just a hiccup, otherwise its off my calendar.
Oh and by the way you got the results wrong as well, gave out prizes to "winners" who were 5 minutes behind the real racers, get a grip! Date of review: March 2, 2008

In short: Such an improvement over last years course!!! In full: Came back this year against my better judgement to see if the course organisers has taken the criticism of the course on board. What an improvement! Quiet country lanes, plent of shade, lots of water stations and although lots of ups and downs no real hills. For those who think it was hilly they obviously didn't run last year with that nasty hill into the town at mile 11, whereas this year it was just a long gentle up. Well done St Albans, lovely run, lovely venue (and as for the commentator, well he got me out of the park {earshot} quickler than I expected to go) Date of review: June 13, 2007

In short: For a big race strangely disorganised; run too "mickey mouse" round the houses for my liking. In full: My first time at MK, probably last as well. For such a big race with a great venue it seemed to have almost wilfully bad organisation. I never found the baggage area, anywhere selling pre or post race coffee etc, the sports pavillion/showers. Admittedly I didn't look too hard as post-run I don't like wandering around large campuses, just a shower, coffee, bacon roll and go. Course was boring with an eternal headwind(?) and not that flat. In short: flat stress free course, nice and rural; excellent run In full: A really nice run through flat essex countryside, well organised/marshalled, only slight gripe might be changing/showers a bit limited for size of field, but at least there were some, so all in all a GOOD RUN!
