In short: This is perhaps my favorite marathon. The scenery, even in the rain, is brilliant. The marshalls, residents and other runners are friendly and supportive. It's not the flattest course but it's one that you'll remember for the right reasons. Date of review: October 9, 2011
In short: An undulating course. Marshalls were excellent, as were the other runners and spectators. Thanks to the marshall handing out jelly babies at 23 miles, much appreciated. Date of review: October 9, 2011
In short: Excellent organisation. Marshals, spectators and people manning the drinks stations were very supportive. The first half of the race has a few hills, the second half is flat. The medal was excellent. I'll be back next year. Date of review: September 12, 2011
In short: A well organised run. The course undulated in places. The marshalls and other runners were really supportive as were the spectators. The t shirts and goody bag were great. The medal was a bit disappointing but for the entry fee overall was ok. Date of review: September 5, 2011
In short: A well organised race run over a challenging course. Great atmosphere, particularly at the finish. Thanks to the marshalls and people manning the drinks / sponge stations. Date of review: August 8, 2011
In short: A well organised race. The course has a few undulations but is OK. The wind blowing across the airfield made the going tough today. The support from the marshalls, spectators and other runners was great. A good race in aid of a good cause. Date of review: July 17, 2011
In short: Just completing the course on such a hot day was an achievement. In full: Organisation before the race was excellent. The course itself is based primarily on or next to main roads, many of them dual carriageways. The course is quite undulating but on Sunday there was next to no shade from the sun. I preferred the course several years ago that took you out into the countryside more. I would say that the course needed at least one more drinks station due to the heat - 3 miles between drinks station was, in my view, too far. Thanks to the householder with the hose pipe at about 12 miles. The race was good value for money (£10 for a half marathon).
