In short: Fantastic Forest Fun!
In full: We travelled from Birmingham down to Warminster through some torrential downpours this morning, at around Bath we were contemplating giving it a miss seeing as we had a 2.5hr journey back at the end....so glad we didn't!!!!
Race briefing warned us that the first 5 miles were 'testing' and 'undulating' so was expecting some horrific hills! Within the first 1/4 mile we hit a very steep climb and my heart was sinking that we had another 5 miles of these but it was the descents that caused the real problems, they were extreme! However once we hit the forest it was relatively flat, as were the final 5 miles. Running thorough the forest was beautiful and made even more fun by the copious amounts of mud due to the rain that morning. Despite a short break at 8.5 miles due to a spooked horse pretty pleased with my time and the final 1/2 mile has good sprint finish potential. Despite this race being a fair trek from home I would definitely comeback and do it again. As is usual with all the smaller, running club races excellent organisation and fantastic marshalls. Great Race Warminster Running Club!!!

In short: Massive improvement from 2008
In full: Much much much better course than 2009, the barrage miles were a vast improvement on last years run round county hall car park and the mile 12 into 13 was better. If your going to provide sports drinks this really needs to be towards the end of the race for faster runners having them at 5 miles is a little pointless (and powerade is horrible stuff!). Baggage reclaim was a total fiasco I will not be using this again next year!!! Aside from these minor points, if your chasing PB's this is the course to do it on, nice and flat with a refreashing sea breeze out towards the coast - would defo do this again!!

In short: Great training run for London, but the definition of 'flat' needs some clarity!!!
In full: Great training run for London, quite testing in places with some hills although the race is described as flat/undulating, bear this in mind if you have been missing hillwork due to injury, this was quite a shock! Great marshalls, really supportive and made sure they gave everyone a cheer and some encouragement as they passed, which was really appreciated. I found that there was a lack of water stations around the route, although it was unseasonably warm and sunny on the day so that probably didn't help. Great T-Shirt especially considering this was a low key race much better than T-Shirts provided by other high-profile runs I have done in the South Wales Region. Overall really good job and will be back next year to try and improve my time but with some hillwork included in my training programme in anticipation!!!
