In short: Good Boxing Day run
In full: Enjoyed this race but might have enjoyed it more had I not (ahem!) - overindulged as much on Christmas Day! We were lucky with the weather though heavy rain from previous days made the field very boggy - realised too late I should have worn my trail shoes!
A number of runners made the effort to don fancy dress (Batman and Robin, race jockeys on inflatable horses, etc!) which I thought added to the festive atmosphere.
Glad I entered this - a decent post-Christmas workout!

In short: 'Character building' race with picturesque scenery to take your mind off (mostly!) "that hill"!
In full: Enjoyed this far more than I expected to. Knew the 10k would be 4 laps which included a very steep hill in each case and I did wonder whether I'd be tempted to drop out at 5k. Didn't happen though (largely due to having someone to run with to keep me company I think!) and very pleased about that. The crisp sunny weather really helped, there was a nice atmosphere, it was well organised and fantastic food at the end (best soup I've ever had I think!!).

Liked the fact that some of the runners made the effort to don Christmassy fancy dress too - thanks guys, you were a cheery sight and helped me feel more festive!

In short: Seems to only get better every year! One of my favourites
In full: Loved this 10k and getting a PB from it was a bonus! As always brilliantly organised and with wonderful, encouraging marshals.
Organisers even got the rain to stay away for the duration of the run ... pure genius!!
Best memento ever too!
Thanks again for a fab race - which is already in my calendar for next year!

In short: Terrific fun in terrible weather!
In full: Shame the dismal weather scared away many would-be supporters but the atmosphere was still excellent due to all who were involved with the organisation and also to the other runners.

I loved the cheery sight of so many red costume clad runners all out for a morning of festive fun and fitness and a great cause. I'm in for next year too!

In short: Really well organised - shame about the rotten weather!
In full: The weather (which the organisers can do nothing about of course) was so bad as to be almost comical! Strong wind and heavy rain literally took your breath away ... just when you needed it most (i.e. hills!)

The race itself was very slickly organised. This was my second ever relay and the organisers of the first one I did earlier this year could learn a great deal from Luton. I was very impressed and the friendly, encouraging marshalls really helped to up the enjoyment level several notches, much needed as local support was thin on the ground due to the grim weather - many thanks guys!

Glad I only did a relay leg though! I'm in absolute awe of those who did the full ... I certainly couldn't have!

In short: Fantastic!
In full: Really loved this race and that was down to a combination of terrific marshals, wonderful atmosphere, scenic route and top notch organisation. A huge thanks to all involved. I can certainly see why this is such a popular Half and fills up very quickly. I'll be back next year for sure!

In short: Scenic as stated and enjoyable
In full: Last-minute entry was handled very efficiently - took only seconds for me pay, hand over my completed form and to get my number. Glad I entered. Very enjoyable, friendly race with great marshalls.

A couple of good inclines to provide a little bit of a challenge (one in particular comes to mind!) but scenery was delightful enough to take your mind off them a bit!

Glass/crystal 3D laser runner paperweight thingy was a bit different as memento too ... liked it!

In short: Despite the grotty weather, still fun ...
In full: Mostly well organised overall except that it took us the same amount of time to get out of the car park as it did for me to run the whole 10 miles ... 1 hour 35! Yucky weather meant the last 2 miles along the sea front was energy-sapping - strong wind and horizontal rain in your face! Never appreciated before how spoilt I was with the sunshine of 2005's GSR.
First 8 miles were enjoyable and a lot of that was to do with the terrific crowd support ... huge thanks to all those wonderful supporters standing out in that horrible weather to cheer the runners on, they deserve a medal too!

In short: Nothing but praise for this fantastic race ...
In full: This was my first cross country run (since school anyway but that's too long ago to remember now!) and what a great introduction to it. Plenty of friendly, encouraging marshalls - many thanks for keeping me going the whole way (twice!), I appreciated it more than you will know! A few fairly tough hills/inclines but plenty of level/downhill parts to make up for lost time too.

What a pretty park to run in, made all the lovelier by the sunshine today.

Thank you AFF for another enjoyable race!
