In short: Challenging course with the worst mile saved for last!!! In full: An OK race from my perspective although I didn't enjoy the hill leading upto 3miles. A marshalling error did send the 3rd to ~7th placed runners on a 1+ mile short-cut and had them coming in well before the two 'runaway leaders'.
Organisers a little slow in posting results of the 8-miler on their website. Date of review: September 11, 2006
In short: Great course, but race spoiled by poor organisation. In full: This race has potential to be one of the best, somethings they do brilliantly: the rousing music, the additional scenary (Spitfires), the banners. Other things are just dire: Baggage store, t-shirt quality, lack of starting pens. Date of review: July 4, 2005
In short: Poor marshalling - runners going off course. In full: Statig at the Race Breifing that "you turn left here and go right there" is not a substitute for marshalls and/or directional arrows.
I found myself running in about 22nd place when the runners in front of me ran past an unattentive marshall and were called back, loosing about thirty seconds each. I then found myself and a string of runners behind heading into Corsham town centre and cutting through the sports centre car park to get to the finish and probably ran near to 11K.
Being my first race of 2005, I was not a happy bunny. Date of review: April 17, 2005
In short: Organisers have taken note of negative criticism in earlier years. In full: Good course around central London and well supported, a few hairpin bends and the twisting nature of the course through Whitehall will make PB's hard to come by - but there again the crowd support and Union Jacks may lift you to a PB.
