In short: Hard, scenic, muddy, fun In full: Always a great race in beautiful surroundings with efficient but low-key organisation. This year's was even harder because of the mud but was a fair challenge. Great organisation and friendly atmosphere make this a high point of my running year. Date of review: August 3, 2009

In short: Beautiful course, well organised In full: Third time that I have done this and it was as well organised as ever. The scenic and flat course (albeit with some difficult terrain under foot), frequent water points and great organisation (including the transport to the start of the linear route) make this a favourite event. Very slightly disappointed that the "plaques" given out in prior years had been replaced by a "normal" medal. Date of review: July 27, 2009

In short: Always reliably a good event In full: Early on Good Friday is an ideal time for this event. Course is a good one, with friendly marshalls and the delays getting out of the business park at the end are just the downside of the ample parking. One thing that comes up every year is the inadequate toilet facilities - please could the organisers hire some more (add a pound or two to the entry fee if necessary) Date of review: April 14, 2009

In short: Great course, well organised In full: Nothing but praise for this - all of the essentials (water, toilets, parking, marshalls) were as good as could be asked for and the course itself was beautiful. Although the roads were not closed the traffic was generally very considerate and the roads quiet. Date of review: March 29, 2009

In short: Coped well with a large increase in runner numbers In full: As always, a very well organised event, even with what seemed to be a big jump in numbers this year. Small changes in the course vs last year (especially between 3 and 4 miles) were an improvement. Could do with a few more toilets at the start. Can't get too worried about the lack of medal - perhaps better to make it clear next year that there won't be one and those for whom it is important can act accordingly Date of review: February 23, 2009

In short: Great course and scenery - generally well organised In full: A superb course, very well marshalled. Get the impression that the size of the event is slightly running ahead of organisational capacity, water stations could do with being a bit bigger and more capacity. I'm disinclined to gripe too much as the event is run by volunteers and is good value. Probably not one for the very slow runners, due to traffic concerns etc but an excellent challenge for most standards. Date of review: September 23, 2008

In short: Great traffic-free course, well organised In full: Once again, a great race and one that we certainly will do again. Ample car parking and easy to find (if you bother to read the clear instructions sent to you before the race) - while the car park is some way from the start this is very clearly noted on the instructions and it makes a useful warm-up. The course was traffic free and very scenic - as well as quite hilly to make it interesting. The school makes an excellent start/finish venue. Marshalling and organisation very good (misplaced 9 mile marker notwithstanding). Date of review: August 17, 2008

In short: Beautiful course but hard due to hills and mud - great value In full: A very enjoyable event, despite rain towards the end. As always for LDWA events very well organised, friendly and unbelievably good value. Beautiful countryside and great views (at the price of some testing climbs) - the mud and hills made it quite a challenge. Date of review: July 7, 2008

In short: Beautiful scenery, very well organised, great value In full: Our first time doing this race and we will definitely be back (the only fear being that the secret is now out and it might get too difficult to get into). A tough course in beatiful countryside, made easier by the numerous, genuinely encouraging and very efficient marshalls/helpers. I doubt that we will do a better race this year. In short: Friendly, good course In full: Overall, a good event, well organised (notwithstanding minor problems at the first water stop) with a good venue for the start and finish and a generally flat course with decent crowd support. The hill was a real challenge but the run down was fun. Generally, a friendly local event - not earth shattering but not justifying the very negative and dismissive tone of one reviewer below.
