In short: Inaugural event - delivered that 'special' atmosphere
In full: Was so glad I entered the first running of this new Great Run event. The atmosphere was very uplifting, slickly organised as I've come to expect of Great Runs anyway and Cardiff is a terrific location. I felt we had wonderful local support (oddly, was more conscious of that than of the marshalls on this one, though I'm sure they were as good too!). Overall, a fun, carnival atmosphere - probably helped along by some great fancy dress too ... in particular the guy dressed as Pamela Anderson!

In short: Overall, good as always
In full: Third year running (groan!) for me and enjoyed it as ever. We were lucky with the weather, atmosphere and support was excellent and marshalls were great as always. Agree with the comment about the goodie bag being a bit pants though. I got an Aldi bag (not even an NSPCC one!). Ingredients were a banana, a Fitnesse bar and a pen. Race itself (more important element I know!) was enjoyable and we were so lucky with the weather today (given all the rain recently). Would be nice for a race this size to have chip timing though.

Will do this one again next year.

In short: Fun, flat, fast and FAB 5k!
In full: Really enjoyed it and will definitely make it an annual fixture in my running calendar from now on! Very friendly and cheerful marshalls, quality medal, fantastic atmsophere, flat and pleasant route ... what more could you ask for in a 5k!

In short: Unique Event
In full: Thoroughly enjoyable race and with wonderful weather today (though maybe a bit better for spectators than runners ... bit warm!). Loved the uniqueness of running past a rhino and then getting to view the animals at a more 'sedate' pace straight after the run! The sponges at the water station were wholly appreciated today too! I thought this race was excellent value and made for a great day out. I'm definitely doing this one again next year!

In short: Lovely race on a lovely day
In full: Very enjoyable, friendly and well supported. Certainly 'undulating' but the route was very scenic, so plenty to focus on!

In short: Long, never-ending hill for half the route race but lovely scenery to make up for it
In full: Glad it was only 5k! Great downhill start then just climbed up and up and up... for most of the run! Hats off to the organisers and the wonderful marshalls for making it such a friendly, enjoyable race though. Possibly the strong winds made the hill seem harder than it might otherwise have felt. Good value race and may well do it again next year.

In short: Great run!
In full: Loved it! Terrific atmosphere and well organised as Great Runs always seem to be. Strong headwind when tackling the toughest hill made it challenging but felt very proud that we didn't walk it once when so many others we passed did (though it did feel like we were running on the spot at times!). Goody bag was essentially just a t-shirt and a wafer but it wasn't high on my list of reasons for entering the race anyway and the quality medal made up for it. Saw only 3 x km markers - due to the high winds I believe. Race marshalls were brilliant ... so cheerful and encouraging.

It's an excellent race to build a weekend away with friends around and we really enjoyed ourselves. We'll be back next year!

In short: Nice, well-organised race with a good atmosphere
In full: Such a flat course = good PB potential. Weather couldn't have been more ideal - Easter is a great time to put a race on and it had a nice, friendly family atmosphere with an Easter Egg hunt for the little ones included. Also one of the best organised races I've come across which is quite impressive for being only its 2nd year. Announcer and marshalls were also excellent. Enjoyable race.

In short: Enjoyed this one again
In full: ... though preferred the atmospheric fog last year which obscured the dullness of the airfield! Didn't get the PB I got last year but enjoyed running with a group of friends instead. Marshalls were excellent, very encouraging - every one of them. Well organised and friendly event. Will do again next year. Shame about the keyring memento at the end though - the one 'low' of the race!
